Being the report for the Final Court of Their Royal Majesties Christopher and Maurya, King and Queen of Æthelmearc.  Court held on September 20th, AS 38 (2003) in Their Shire of Stelton Wald at the Coronation of Their Heir, Henri.  Giulietta da Venezia, Reporting Herald, with the assistance of Master Edmund Tregelles.

Their Majesties asked Her Excellency, Juliana Richenda Trevain, Seneschal of the Kingdom of AEthelmearc, to bear witness to the following:

It was brought to Their Majesties attention that certain provisions of the Laws of the Kingdom of AEthelmearc are in conflict with Corpora. Section IV.F.3 of Corpora states as follows:

"Any law declared null and void because of a conflict must be explicitly repealed.  Laws that are repealed must be proclaimed and published in the same manner as the original law."

The laws that are in conflict are Article IV, Sections IV-100, IV-300 and IV-400 of the Laws of AEthelmearc.  To correct the invalid provisions, the following are to be inserted in Kingdom Law, effective immediately:

"IV-100:  If either the Crown Prince or Princess is found to be ineligible, a new Crown Tournament shall be fought as soon as one can be legally announced.  Only those participants in the nullified Tournament who were, and continue to be, eligible may participate in the second Crown Tournament.

IV-300:  If both the Crown Prince and Princess abdicate or are unable to ascend the Throne, a new Crown Tournament shall be fought as soon as one can be legally announced.  Only those participants in the nullified Tournament who were, and continue to be, eligible may participate in the second Crown Tournament.

IV-400:  [Repealed]"

Their Majesties then announced that they had received a Letter of Abdication from Her Highness, Berengaria.  Therefore, in accordance with the provisions of the Laws of the Kingdom of AEthelmearc, Section IV-200, His Highness, Henri, the remaining Heir, would be crowned as sole Sovereign.

Their Majesties announced that Their Seneschal, Baroness Juliana Richenda Trevain, having previously expressed her desire to relinquish her Office due to overwhelming mundane responsibilities, would be permitted to do so on this occasion rather than at AEthelmearc Twelfth Night, as had been previously announced.  They asked her to call forth her successor, Mistress Aoibheil of Dun Holen.  Mistress Aoibheil was then invested with the insignia of her new Office.

Lord Marduke Inchmertyn was made a Companion of the Order of the Keystone for his steadfast and silent service to Crown and Kingdom.  No scroll was present.

Their Majesties called forth Lady Sophie Davenport, Lady Illish O'Donovan and Sir Maynard von dem Stein and expressed Their personal thanks to these good gentles for helping to ease the burdens of the Crown during Their reign.  Their Majesties then presented them small tokens of Their gratitude.

Their Majesties expressed Their sincere thanks to the Ladies of the Rose and the Heralds and Scribes of the Kingdom of AEthelmearc for all of their efforts, especially those which made the Rose Royal Tournaments possible.

Their Majesties called forth the following gentles to award them Sigils:  Baroness Liadain ni Dheirdre Caomhanaigh, Lady Aileen ingen Proensais, Lady Coletta Briant, THLady Ros O'Donnell, Lord Bataar Sogdo, Lady Ysabel Graver, Baroness Narah bint Durr, THLord Fiachra Bonesetter, Duchess Dorinda Courtenay, Lady Darraigh MacKenzie, Lady Merriwether of Weyrever, THLord Jacopo di Niccolo, Baron Tristen Sexwulf, Lorenz Butterman, Mistress Aleea Bagah, Lord Anias Fenn, Nivah and Robert.

Their Majesties summoned forth Their retainers and guardsmen and asked them to retire, with Their gratitude for excellent service.

Fridrikr Tomasson, His Highness' personal herald, arrived in Court to declare that His Highness was approaching to press his claim to the Sylvan Throne, and to ask what word he might take back to Their Heir regarding the Succession.  Their Majesties agreed to hear His Highness' claim.

Their Majesties addressed the assembled populace and expressed Their gratitude for having had the opportunity to serve the Kingdom in the capacity of Sovereign, as well as Their heartfelt thanks for the support and love shown Them over the past year.

His Highness, Henri, Dauphin d'AEthelmearc arrived in Court and stated His claim to the Throne.  Having heard the witness of the Seneschal and Marshal-in-Charge of Their Crown Tournament, Their Majesties agreed that His Highness' claim was valid, right and true.  His Majesty then divested Her Majesty of the crown, as well as Himself.  He then crowned Henri the Thirteenth King of AEthelmearc.

Thus did the Court and Reign of Christopher and Maurya III come to an end.

Herald's note:  Lord Aidan Gunn, Lord Marduke Inchmertyn, Lady Cionaedh Gunn and Derrek Archer were also presented Sigils.
