Baronial Investiture of Alonzia and Tatyana
Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands
Being the
report for the Court of His Royal Majesty Henri, Roi
d’Æthelmearc, with Their
Excellencies, Tofi and Genevieve, Baron and Baroness of the
Barony-Marche of
the Debatable Lands in attendance.
Court held on October 18th, AS 38 (2003) at the Investiture of
Alonzio
and Tatyana in His Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands.
Giulietta da Venezia, Reporting Herald, with the gracious
assistance of
Tigernach mag Shamrain.
His Majesty gave
Their Excellencies, Tofi and Genevieve, leave to conduct their Baronial
Court.
His Majesty
invited Their Excellencies, Tofi and Genevieve, into His presence. Their Excellencies indicated their desire to
end their tenure as Baron and Baroness of the Barony-Marche of the
Debatable
Lands, and asked to be released from their Oath of Fealty to the Crown. Before answering this request, His Majesty
directed that Their Excellencies be presented with their Investiture
scrolls,
done at War Practice during the Reign of James and Elina I. Scrolls by THLady Kris Gilibari.
His Majesty then
asked if Their Excellencies had successors who were ready and able to
assume
their duties, and they indicated that this was so.
His Majesty
welcomed Her Excellency, Dame Margaret Makafee, Seneschal of the
Barony-Marche
of the Debatable Lands. Dame Margaret
attested that there had indeed been a Baronial election, that it was
conducted
with all due propriety, and that Sir Alonzio of the Peacemakers and his
lady
wife, Lady Tatyana Kushina, called the Kushka were the successors
chosen by the
populace of the Barony. Dame Margaret
then presented a Petition signed by the populace of the Barony which
verified
all that she had stated. (Petition
scroll by Graidhne ni Ruaidh)
His Majesty
requested the attendance of Sir Alonzio of the Peacemakers and Lady
Tatyana
Kushina, called the Kushka so that they could witness the Devestiture
of Tofi
and Genevieve. His Excellency, Tofi,
removed the Baronial Coronet from the head of Her Excellency,
Genevieve, and
returned it to His Majesty. His
Excellency then did the same with his own Coronet.
His Majesty accepted the Coronets from Their Excellencies and
released them from their Oath of Fealty to the Crown.
Master Tofi
Kerthjalfadsson was created a Baron of His Majesty’s Court. Scroll by THLady Hrefna in heppna
Thorgrimsdottir, with wording by Master Michael Alewright.
Countess
Genevieve du Vent Argent was created a Baroness of His Majesty’s Court. Scroll illuminated by Lady Rosalinda of
Castile and illuminated by THLord Cadell Blaidd du.
His Majesty
instructed Sir Alonzio and Lady Tatyana in the duties and
responsibilities of a
Territorial Baron and Baroness, and asked whether they were willing and
able to
accept same. Sir Alonzio and Lady
Tatyana agreed. His Majesty then
accepted Sir Alonzio’s Oath of Fealty as a Knight of the Realm, and the
couple’s Oath of Fealty as Baron- and Baroness-Elect.
His Majesty then invested Sir Alonzio as the Fifth Baron of the
Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands, and set the Baronial Coronet upon
his head. His Majesty then presented the
Baroness’
Coronet to His Excellency, and allowed him the privilege of placing it
upon Her
Excellency’s head. Their Excellencies
were then presented scrolls commemorating their Investiture. His Excellency’s scroll illuminated by Lady
Rosalinda of Castile and calligraphed by THLord Cadell Blaidd du; Her
Excellency’s scroll calligraphed by Pavla de la Satu Mare and
illuminated by
THLord Cadell Blaidd du.
His Majesty
invited Their Excellencies, Tofi and Genevieve, into His presence. He then invited Their Excellencies, Langdon
and Ardis to conduct certain business before Him. Langdon
and Ardis indicated that they are the proprietors of a
certain encampment at the Great Pennsic War known as the “Old Barons’
Retirement Home.” They also mentioned
that the encampment maintains a beer box, which was brought into the
Royal
Presence. Landgon and Ardis, having
taken note of the fact that Tofi and Genevieve were now retired, and
that Tofi
is also a Master of the Laurel specializing in brewing, indicated that
it might
be in Tofi and Genevieve’s best interests to help fill the beer
box...or other
alternatives might well ensue, said beer box being of a size to
accommodate
approximately one retired Baron. His
Excellency, Tofi, agreed to consider the various alternatives.
His Majesty
asked THLady Katerina Affodil to attend him.
He then presented her with a Writ commanding her to present
herself
before Him at the Kriskindermart event on December 6th in the
Barony-Marche of
the Debatable Lands to answer the question whether she would accept
elevation
to the Most Noble Order of the Pelican.
The Order was then summoned to escort Her Ladyship from the
Royal
Presence.
The Court of His
Majesty was closed.
