Coronation
Canton of Beau Fleuve
Being the
report for the Afternoon Court of Their Royal Majesties, Maynard and
Christina,
King and Queen of Æthelmearc with Their Excellencies, Otto and
Geirny, Baron
and Baroness of the Rhydderich Hael in attendance.
Court held on April 17th, AS 38 (2004) at Their Coronation in
Their Canton of Beau Fleuve. Giulietta
da Venezia, Reporting Herald, with
the assistance of His Excellency, Master Fridrikr Tomasson av Knusslig
Hamn.
Don Christian
Amaury de Launey was named a Member of Her Majesty’s Guard.
Their Majesties
welcomed THLady Cynthia Loved of Tower and Her Excellency, Alexandra of
Clan
Donald into Their Presence. Her
Ladyship indicated that her term of office had come to an end, and that
Her
Excellency was willing and able to assume the duties of Kingdom
Exchequer. After getting some help
balancing the books
from His Majesty, Their Majesties graciously accepted Her Excellency’s
offer,
and allowed Her Ladyship to retire.
They then received Her Excellency’s Oath of Fealty.
Their Majesties
welcomed THLord Ængus MacBain into Their Presence.
His Lordship was named the Chancellor of the Æthelmearc
Youth
Martial Academy, and offered his Oath of Fealty.
The Companions
of the Order of the White Scarf presented a White Scarf to Her Majesty,
as is
their custom. Her Majesty averred that
She would be very pleased to wear it in their honor.
Tribe Tuatha
Fieren presented the proceeds of the day’s basket raffle to Their
Majesties,
which was held to help defray the costs of the Pennsic Royalty and
Populace
Receptions. Their Majesties thanked the
Tribe for its industriousness and generosity.
Her Grace,
Dorinda Courtenay was named the first Rapier Warlord of
Æthelmearc, and offered
her Oath of Fealty.
Captain John
Michael Thorpe announced the results of the day’s rapier tournament. It was won by the team representing Her
Majesty, consisting of Don Christian de Launey; Lady Sasha Grey; Her
Grace,
Dorinda Courtenay; His Excellency, Robert of Worcester; Don Eric
Grenier de
Labarre, called Grendel; THLord Caleb
Reynolds, Don Ian Muir, called Keyard; and Ragnar.
They were presented a chest of gifts to share amongst
themselves,
and they also presented a gift to Their Majesties.
The good combatants determined to also present their own chest
of
gifts to Their Majesties, to use as they see fit. The
rapier combatants also presented gifts to the Ladies of the
Rose and the Garnet.
His Majesty
asked to speak with his team, consisting of Lady Magdalena Drucker; Her
Excellency, Juliana Rosalia Dolce di Siena; Her Excellency, Ceol
Seabhac; Her
Excellency, Mistress Rhiannon the Curious; Don Diego Miguel
Muñoz de Castilla;
Wilhelm Smydele von Solingen; and Fergus.
He thanked them for representing Him, and for their grace even
in
defeat.
Her Majesty
noted that Captain John Michael Thorpe had earlier presented Her with a
token
to give to the rapier combatant She considered most chivalrous that day. It pleased Her Majesty greatly to present it
to Her Grace, Dorinda Courtenay.
Sir Sextus
Plinius Callidus presented the prizes for the day’s heavy weapons
tournaments. The victor in the adult
tournament was His Grace, Sir Morguhn Sheridan. The
victor in the first-ever Æthelmearc tournament for youths
aged six through nine was Quinn. The
victor in the tournament for youths aged ten and older was Beowulf.
Master Brandric
Slayrock presented the prize for the day’s thrown weapons tournament to
Master
Charles of Alden.
Lady Diane the
Scrivener presented the prizes for the day’s arts and sciences
competition. Catherine was Their
Majesties’ choice, for her woodburned box.
First place went to Alicia Hennenberg for her blackwork belt;
second
place went to Catherine for her series of woodburned containers, and
third
place went to Alicia Hennenberg for her 1500s German bodice.
Their Majesties
allowed the Debatable Lands’ Scribal and Archeological Conspiracy to
approach
Them. Through their diligent efforts in
digging through our Kingdom’s history, they discovered an artifact that
properly belonged to His Majesty. The
Conspiracy then presented His Majesty, formerly known as Brother
Maynard, with
his long-lost Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.
His Majesty reserved the right to call upon the Conspiracy
should he
have a need to count at any time during His Reign.
Their Majesties
welcomed the members of House Tyger’s Guard into Their Presence. The beautiful stage setting for Coronation
had been conceived by Her Grace, Maurya Etain Sableswan and executed
mostly by
Her Excellency, Liadain ni Dheirdre Caomhanaigh and THLord Marduke
Inchmertyn,
with the help of the household. Tyger’s
Guard then donated the set to the Canton and the Barony, for use at any
of the
indoor sites as might be deemed appropriate.
Their Majesties and Their Excellencies warmly thanked the
household for
their efforts and generosity.

Winter was awarded arms for her service as chirurgeon, chronicler,
herald and

was awarded arms in absentia for his service as autocrat and knight
