declared that Their time had come to an end.
His Highness,
Rurik, entered the hall and inquired after Their Majesties’ health. Their Majesties assured His Highness that
they felt fine. His Highness again
inquired whether They were sure about that.
Having surveyed the dais, and noting several very large
gentlemen
looming in the background, Their Majesties allowed as how something did
appear
to be coming over Them. They asked to
hear other opinions on the subject.
Her Excellency,
Mistress Aoibheil of Dun Holen, Seneschal of Æthelmearc, declared
that she is
not a doctor, but that she stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, and
thought
Their Majesties did look a bit peaked.
She assured them that His Highness, having proved the right
honorable
victor in Their Crown Tournament, was well prepared to assume the
duties of
Royalty.
Sir Magariki
Katsuichi no Koredono, Earl Marshal of Æthelmearc, also not a
doctor, declared
that Their Majesties were looking not quite as well as might be
expected. He also assured Their Majesties
that His
Highness was victorious in Their Crown Tournament, and that He could
indeed
assume the duties of Royalty.
THLady Giulietta
da Venezia, Silver Buccle Principal Herald, averred that she is not a
doctor,
but that she had visited her chiropractor that week, and (due to
standing in
close proximity to the Large Looming Gentlemen) feared that she might
have need
of another visit after this weekend.
She noted Their Majesties’ pallor, attested that His Highness
had bested
all comers to emerge victorious from Their Crown Tournament, and urged
Their
Majesties to look after themselves.
Their Majesties
allowed as how They were indeed a bit tired, and stated Their intention
to
retire. His Majesty then removed the
crown from Her Majesty’s head, and placed it upon Her Throne. His Majesty then crowned Rurik fifteenth
King of Æthelmearc.
Thus did the
Court and Reign of Maynard and Christina come to an end.
