Being the Report of the Court of Their Royal Majesties, Rurik and Angelik, King and Queen of Æthelmearc, with Their Sylvan Highnesses, Malcolm and Tessa, Prince and Princess of Æthelmearc; Their Excellencies, William and Kersey, Baron and Baroness of the Rhydderich Hael; Their Majesties, Malik and Genevieve, King and Queen of Ealdormere; and His Royal Highness, Alaric, Prince of the Midrealm in attendance.  Court held on December 11, AS 39 (2004) at Baronial Investiture in Their Barony of the Rhydderich Hael.  Giulietta da Venezia, Reporting Herald, with the assistance of Master Edmund Tregelles.

Their Majesties gave Their Excellencies leave to conduct their Baronial Court.

His Royal Highness, Alaric, Prince of the Midrealm, assisted by Master Emrys Eustace (hight Broom), gave a rare and precious gift to Their Sylvan Highnesses, Malcolm and Tessa:  after a long and painstaking quest, He had found the ancestral sword of Æthelmearc, last seen in the early days of our glorious principality, had it restored to its former glory, and returned it to Their Highnesses, to the acclaim of the Royalty and populace there assembled.

Their Majesties of Ealdormere presented gifts to Their Excellencies of the Rhydderich Hael and to the assembled Royalty.

Their Majesties of Æthelmearc presented gifts to Their Excellencies of the Rhydderich Hael and to the assembled Royalty.

Their Majesties called forth Dame Katja Davidova Orlova Khazarina, the Kingdom Archivist, and THLady George Anne.  Dame Katja informed Their Majesties that THLady George had agreed to serve as her successor, to maintain the Kingdom Archives, and to serve as the Kingdom’s Waiver Secretary.  Their Majesties thanked Dame Katja for her service and released her from her office, and invested THLady George Anne as Kingdom Archivist.

Their Majesties received the Oath of Fealty of THLord Caleb Reynolds, the Kingdom Thrown Weapons Marshal.

Their Majesties made Otto of Westphalia a Companion of the Keystone for his service in teaching calligraphy and armoring, cleaning up after events, and for never missing an opportunity to assist his Barony, his Kingdom, or any gentle in need.  Scroll scrivened by Her Grace, Anna Blackleaf and limned by Lady Mea the Bold, upon a text by Lady Maeve Aislynn Ronan.

Their Majesties made Katherine Kersey a Companion of the Keystone for her service as a scribe and for her assistance with auctions and other fundraising efforts.  Scroll by Lady Pleasance de Coignieres.

Their Majesties made Magdalena Drucker a Companion of the Golden Alce for her prowess at thrown weapons and for her service in teaching and running thrown weapons ranges.  Scroll by Lady Juliana Stafford.

Cynwyl MacDaire of Lands End was made a Companion of the Keystone for his service in creating cookbooks and event booklets, and for contributing art to newsletters.  Scroll by Lady Failenn de Cearsaigh.

Master Edmund Tregelles asked to speak with Their Majesties.  Having given Their assent, Master Edmund began to beg a boon of Their Majesties, and asked that They recall a certain conversation between Master Edmund and Themselves concerning a certain individual.  Being terribly moved by Master Edmund’s words, Their humble servant and herald, Giulietta da Venezia, did also ask to speak with Their Majesties.  Their Majesties having agreed to hear her, Giulietta also asked Their Majesties to recall a certain conversation between herself and Their Majesties.  After saying that she could think of only one person who exemplified the virtues of which Master Edmund spoke, she begged Their Majesties to give Master Edmund his just deserts.  Their Majesties asked both Master Edmund and THLady Giulietta to take a knee while they sorted matters out.  His Majesty then produced a document from beneath his throne; after some consultation, Her Majesty agreed that the words contained in the document were indeed right and proper.

Their Majesties then proceeded to create Master Edmund Tregelles a Baron of Their Court.  Scroll by Her Excellency, Gillian Llewellyn of Ravenspur; coronet by Lord Ludwig von Strassburg.

At that moment, the voice of a great herald, His Excellency, Master Fridrikr Tomasson av Knusslig Hamn, was heard in the hall.  Much to her surprise, Master Fridrikr began extolling the virtues of the Kingdom Herald, THLady Giulietta.  Their Majesties were then moved to create Giulietta da Venezia a Baroness of Their Court.  Scroll by Her Excellency, Dame Margaret Makafee; coronet on loan from Master Fridrikr until such time as Giulietta’s is complete.

Their Majesties invited Their Most Noble Order of the Chivalry into Their Presence, and asked them whether they had counselled their candidate, as directed.  Having received the Order’s assent, Their Majesties invited THLord Wulfstan Huscarl into Their Presence, and asked him if it was his wish to continue with the ceremony.  Having received Wulfstan’s assent, Their Majesties asked to hear counsel on the matter.  Their Majesties received the words of Her Excellency, Caryl Olesdottir; Her Excellency, Isabeau de l’Isle; Master Thaddeus the Brown and Mistress Siobhan O’Neill (presented by Her Grace, Syr Rowan de la Garnisson); and Sir Murdoch Bayne.  Agreeing that all They had heard was right and proper, They invested Wulfstan with the accoutrements of a Knight:  the Wilmot Belt, placed about Wulfstan by his lady, Anna Dillon; spurs, cloak, sword and chain.  After receiving his Oath of Fealty, Their Majesties dubbed Sir Wulfstan Huscarl a Knight of Æthelmearc.  His Majesty graciously allowed Sir Wulfstan’s Knight, His Excellency, Sir Yngvar the Dismal, to administer the traditional buffet.  Scroll scrivened by THLady Roberta McMorland and limned by Lady Alessandra Bentivegna da Faenza.

Their Majesties invited Their Most Noble Order of the Laurel into Their Presence, and asked whether they had duly prepared their candidate for elevation.  Having received the Order’s assent, Their Majesties invited THLady Elianora Mathewes into Their Presence, and asked whether she would continue with the ceremony.  THLady Elianora having agreed, Their Majesties asked to hear words on behalf of Her Ladyship.  After receiving the counsel of Sir Murdoch Bayne; Mistress Cori Ghora; Her Excellency, Aidan ni Leir; and Mistress Rhiannon y Bwa (gracefully impersonated by Master Bedwyr Danwyn), Their Majesties agreed that THLady Elianora was indeed a right worthy individual, and that her ceremony should continue.  Mistress Rhiannon y Bwa released THLady Elianora from her apprenticeship, and in fulfillment of their contract did provide a suit of new clothing to her former student:  farthingale, bum roll, skirt, pair of high-necked bodies, pair of sleeves, suit of ruffs, medallion and wreath, as befits Elianora’s new station in life.  After receiving Elianora’s Oath of Fealty, Their Majesties directed Their heralds to read the scroll, only to have the illumination in the hall fail.  The heralds, finding themselves in the dark (as they had been all day), begged for a clew.  THLady Elianora graciously provided three clews, and so her scroll was duly read.  Their Majesties then created Elianora Mathewes a Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Laurel.  Scroll by THLady Alienora Russeal, upon a sonnet by Master Michael McPhe, called Alewright; seal tag by Mistress Rhiannon y Bwa; seal bag by THLady Brigette Kelly MacLean.

Their Majesties recalled Their Most Noble Order of the Laurel to Them.  Reminding the Order that there was yet more business to be done, They asked the Order if it was their wish to proceed.  Having received the Order’s assent, Their Majesties did invite Dame Katja Davidova Orlova Khazarina into Their Presence, and commanded her to present herself before Them at the Festival of the Passing of the Ice Dragon to answer whether she would accept elevation to said Order.  Katja was somewhat reluctant to agree, due to having other cooking duties in assistance of THLady Roberta McMorland’s elevation that same day.  However, after receiving offers of assistance from no fewer than three of the Crowned Heads present, Dame Katja thanked Them for making it possible for her to comply with the Royal Will while fulfilling her duties to THLady Roberta.

The Court of Their Majesties was closed.
