Court Reports of the Kingdom of Æthelmearc
Rurik and Angelik
April 23, AS 39 (2005)
Coronation of Malcolm and Tessa
Barony of Blackstone Mountain

Being the Report of the Final Court of Their Royal Majesties, Rurik and Angelik, King and Queen of Æthelmearc.  Court held on April 23, AS 39 (2005) at the Coronation of Malcolm and Tessa in Their Barony of Blackstone Mountain.  Giulietta da Venezia, Reporting Herald, with the assistance of Lord Bressal “Bruce” MacCulloch.

Her Majesty, Angelik processed into Court accompanied by Her Guard and Her ladies.  She inquired whether the herald had any intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the King.

At that moment, His Majesty, Rurik, accompanied by His Highness, Malcolm, returned from their survey of Their troops and the hostile forces gathering near our Kingdom’s border.  His Majesty, noting that He and Her Majesty are not of a violent nature, wondered whether Their Highnesses, having prepared all their lives for this day, might not be better equipped to lead out Kingdom’s army against the invaders.  His Majesty then asked His Highness by what right he would assert his claim to the Throne of Æthelmearc.

Her Excellency, Mistress Aoibheil of Dun Holen reminded His Majesty that a grand Tournament was held on the 9th day of October in His Barony of Delftwood, that Sir Malcolm did fight that day for the honor of his lady wife Tessa, and had duly won the right to wear the Crown of Æthelmearc.

His Grace, Sir Morguhn Sheridan attested that a tournament had indeed been held to determine the true and rightful heir to the Throne.  He averred that the undisputed winner was Sir Malcolm, who by right of arms is the Crown Prince of Æthelmearc.

Sir Loric Bane presented a scroll bearing the lineage of Sir Malcolm, tracing his lineage through the great Kings and Warlords of the past, and bore witness to his strength of arms.

By the right acknowledged through the words of Mistress Aoibheil, His Grace, Sir Morguhn, and Sir Loric, by the same right that Richard of Mont Royal invoked at the birth of our Society, by the same right that Yngvar the Dismal invoked at the birth of our Nation, and by that same right that Rurik Himself invoked in his time, so Malcolm claimed the right to the Crown of Æthelmearc.

His Majesty spoke warmly to his Queen, Angelik, removed the Crown from Her head, and placed it upon Her Throne.  His Majesty then crowned  Malcolm sixteenth King of Æthelmearc.

Thus did the Court and Reign of Rurik and Angelik come to an end.
