Being
the Report of the Court of Their Royal Majesties, Malcolm and
Tessa, King and Queen of Æthelmearc, with Her Sylvan Highness,
Isabeau,
Princess of Æthelmearc and Their Excellencies, Will and Kiersey,
Baron and
Baroness of the Rhydderich Hael in attendance.
Court held on September 10, AS 40 (2005) at Summer’s End in
Their Canton
of Beau Fleuve. Giulietta da Venezia, Reporting

Their
Excellencies presented the results of the day’s tournaments and
competitions:
Lord
Thomas von Hessen announced the victors in the heavy weapons
tournaments: His Excellency, Sir
Maynard von dem Steine was victorious in the double elimination
tournament
(scroll by Lady Isolda filia Georgii), while His Grace, Sir Morguhn
Sheridan
won the bearpit tournament (scroll by Sara Tuttle).
Lord
Matthew Law announced that Don Diego Miguel Munoz de Castilla had
proven
victorious in the rapier tournament.

Lady
Morwenna Everdone declared that Lord Augusto Giuseppe da San Donato was
the victor in the thrown weapons tournament.

Her
Excellency, Mistress Geirny Thorgrimsdottir announced the winners of
the
arts and sciences competition: Their
Majesties’ choice was THLady Gabrielle d’Auvergne, for her Bayeux

piece; Her Highness’ choice was Alianor de Ravenglas for her
hand-stitched
cyclas; Their Excellencies’ choice was also Alianor de Ravenglas for
her
embroidered
cushion; and the First Place winner by choice of the Populace was
Monique the Scribe, for her illumination.
His
Excellency announced the victors in the siege weapon competition: Lord Filippo de Sancto Martino achieved the
highest score, and Sir Ængus MacBain created the most authentic
siege weapon.
Julian
was named the victor of the youth tournament in absentia.
Lord
Francois Belgraunde the Bladegatherer announced that Ryan had achieved
the
rank of Archer.
Lord
Augusto Giuseppe da San Donato, Captain of the Rhydderich Hael Thrown
Weapons Team invested Her Excellency, Susan of Fox Meadow as a member
of the
Team, and presented her a belt favor.
Their
Excellencies thanked everyone who helped with the day’s fundraisers, as
well as everyone who donated to them.
Eleanore
Godwin was made a Companion of the White Horn and granted arms for her
skill at thrown weapons and for her service supervising ranges and

granted arms for his skill at thrown weapons as well as for his service
in

fitz Randolph was awarded arms in absentia for her service to her

O’Donovan of Cork was made a Companion of the Fleur d’Æthelmearc
for her
skill as a milliner and clothier.

Their
Majesties summoned THLord Jacopo di Niccolo into Their Presence, and
asked him several questions: whether he
had been counseled as They had directed, whether he had contemplated
the advice
he had been given, and whether it was his wish to proceed with his
elevation to
the Most Noble Order of the Pelican.
Jacopo answered all of Their Majesties’ questions in the
affirmative,
whereupon Their Majesties asked to hear words from worthy gentles in
support of
Their decision regarding his elevation.
Mistress Aleea Bagah, Sir Ængus MacBain, Her Excellency,
Mistress
Aoibheil of Dun Holen, Their Graces, Sir Christopher of York and Maurya
Etain
Sableswan, and His Excellency, Sir Haakon Oaktall all spoke warmly of
Jacopo
and his many accomplishments, whereupon Their Majesties declared
Themselves
satisfied. They called for a lucco, the
floor-length scarlet garment denoting a Master of a Guild of Tuscany, a
mantle
and hood, all prepared by THLady Ysabell Graver, Jacopo’s lady wife,
with whose
help They invested Jacopo with garments appropriate to his new station. His Excellency, Syr Bear the Wallsbane
presented the ancestral medallion of Æthelmearc and recited its
lineage, while
Mistress Aleea Bagah presented a personal medallion made by her hand. After receiving his Oath of Fealty, Their
Majesties created Maestro Jacopo di Niccolo a Companion of the Most
Noble Order
of the Pelican, and granted him arms by letters patent.

Butterman was made a Companion of the Golden Alce in absentia for his

their generosity.

Zhirov was awarded arms for his service as Baronial chronicler and

McNab was made a Companion of the Golden Alce for his prowess at heavy
weapons combat as well as for his service as an organizer of regional
heavy
weapons practices. Scroll to be

announced that there will be a regional fight practice in the near
future, and
invited everyone to come and participate.
Isolda
filia Georgii was made a Companion of the Sycamore for her skill at

Briant was given a Sigil of Æthelmearc for her service to Their
Majesties, especially as a retainer.
Their Majesties noted that this was the twenty-first piece of
business

Their
Majesties began to close Court, only to remind themselves that there
was
yet another gentle who needed to be recognized. They
summoned Sir Sextus Plinius Callidus before Them, and spoke
warmly of his years of service to the Kingdom, especially for his
service in
mentoring young fighters, serving as their marshal and teacher. They then called forth the Companions of the
Most Noble Order of the Pelican once again, and asked Callidus whether
he would
accept elevation to said Order. Having
received a favorable response, Their Majesties asked to hear testimony
concerning Sir Callidus. His
Excellency, Sir Otto of Westphalia, Mistress Alicia Langland, Her
Excellency,
Susan of Fox Meadow, and Her Excellency, Mistress Liadain ni Dheirdre
Caomhanaigh all spoke of Sir Callidus’ many trials, and the gracious
and
patient way in which he serves. Maestro
Jacopo di Niccolo presented the ancestral medallion of
Æthelmearc; regarding
its lineage, he noted, “What Bear said, plus me!” Her
Excellency, Mistress Liadain ni Dheirdre Caomhanaigh
presented a personal medallion, and Mistress Cori Ghora and THLady
Jenna
MacPherson of the Lion’s Tower
placed
Sir Callidus’ new cloak about his shoulders. Their
Majesties then created Sir Sextus Plinius Callidus a
Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Pelican, bade him rise, and
presented
