Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands

Court report of TRM’s Duncan and Ilish from Carnivale on February 9th A.S. 42 held in the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands in the presence of Their Excellencies Byron and Ariella, as reported by THL Matilda Bosvyle de Bela Acqua, Silver Buccle, with the assistance of Baron Fridrikr Tomasson av Knusslig Hamn.

Morning court.

TRM’s called before them Wolfgang von Carlson, the Kingdom Youth Champion and awarded him a Silver Alce for his prowess on the field of combat (scroll callig by Anna Blackleaf).

TRM’s called before Them Their most noble Order of the Laurel and Signora Tomasia da Collevento. Their Majesties instructed her to hear the council of the Order and return during the evening court prepared to give answer if she wished to be elevated to their station. The Laurels escorted her to her vigil alcove.

Master Evan Da Collaureo of the Kingdom of Atlantia was invited before the Court where he did beg a boon of Their Majesties. He asked for THLady Ailis Linne to step forward and accept his words of thanks and gratitude for the work she had done for the College of Heralds and the Society as a whole in the many years since he had been the Wreath herald. He wished to make known to one and all the tremendous value of her service in the distribution of paperwork across Kingdoms, of revitalizing Pennsic Heralds Point, and her contributions to the traceable art project. Their Majesties and heard such praise for Her Ladyship from many other gentles as well. They called before Them those gentles of the noble Order of the Pelican, and commanded Ailis to sit vigil and contemplate elevation to their Order, stating she should return with her answer at the evening court. The Pelicans escorted her to the prepared alcove.

TRM’s invited before Them Their Excellencies of the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands, Baron Byron and Baroness Ariella who presented Their Majesties and the Princess Royal, with fine gifts on behalf of the people of the Debatable Lands.

The Kingdom Earl Marshal, Sir Magariki Katsuichi no Koredono came before the Court to announce the winner of His Majesties old school Bear Pit Tournament: Sir Isenwulf Thorolfssone.

Their Majesties noted that Sir Koredono’s term was at an end and bade him turn over the accoutrements of the Office of Earl Marshal to his successor Sir Tristan Sexwolf (these included the official laminated Earl Marshal weapons authorization card and an unopened can of Whoop-A**) .

Their Majesties called forth Their Kingdom Fencing Champion, Lord Zuiryu no Ariyajoti who announced that he is soon to travel beyond the Eastern Kingdom to an ancient and peopled land. Not wishing to leave Their Majesties without a champion in the interim, his Knight, Sir Koredono, now free of office, offered to take his place in Their Court. Though sad to see him leave Their presence, Their Majesties wished Lord Zuiryu well.

Lord Giovanni Magrino was called before Their Majesties to announce the winners of the Fencing Tournament: Zuiryu no Ariyajoti and William Parris. They were presented with prizes.

THLord Brandubh O’Donnghaile was called forth to receive the scroll for the Millrind award he received during the reign of Christopher and Morgen (scroll by Arianna of Wynthrope).

Thorfinna hrogn Josepsdottir was Awarded Arms for her service as a thrown weapons marshal (Zen scroll by Fridrikr Tomasson).

Zianna beguy urdina (de Truylos) Zabaleta was Awarded Arms and made a Companion of the Keystone in recognition of the varied and endless service she has performed (scroll unsigned).

Tora Shida no Gozen was created a companion of the Order of the Keystone for support of the equestrian arts (scroll illum by Nivah Catherine Rose of Banockburn).

Madeleine de l’Estes was awarded the Order of the Keystone for her service as seneschal of the Canton of Steltonwald (scroll unsigned).

Clemente de Warrewyk was made a Companion of the Order of the Sycamore for his participation in the arts of theater, dance and pewter casting (Zen scroll by Fridrikr Tomasson).

Brother Donald was awarded the Order of the Sycamore for his pursuit of armoring and chain mail knitting (scroll by Rowan L’Crotha).

Gabriel Hawke was created a member of the Order of the Golden Alce for teaching and participating in heavy weapons combat (scroll illum by Nivah Catherine Rose of Banockburn).

Their Majesties summoned the Order of the Pelican. THLady Ailis Linne was called once more before Their Majesties and affirmed that she had sat vigil this day. Several Peers stepped forth to attest to her worthiness and quiet dedication: Master Alaric MacConnal on behalf of the Laurels, Sir Magariki Katsuichi no Koredono for the Chivalry, Countess Aidan ni Leir for the Royal peers and Mistress Graidhne ni Ruaidh for the Pelicans. Having agreed to accept such accolade Ailis was then draped with a cloak and presented with two medallions of the Order –the ancestral medallion and the ancient Greyraven medallion, reserved for those new made Pelicans who have served the College as book heralds (scroll illum by S. Lovechilde, callig Hrefna in heppna Thorgrimsdottir). Dame Ailis was received by the members of the Order.

TRM’s invited before the Court Master Huen Damebrigge who had some business to conclude with his apprentice. Signora Tomasia da Collevento was escorted into Court, whereupon Master Huen declared there was nothing more he could teach her and released her as his apprentice. Tomasia, for her part, noted the wear and tear her apprentice belt had taken while she had served in many a kitchen, and she returned to Master Huen a new belt in place of the old. Their Majesties then heard the words of Peers praising the skill and merit of la Signora: as Royal Peer, Viscountess Judith of Kirtland; from the Order of the Pelican, Master Remus Fletcher; for the Order of Chivalry, Sir Graedwynn mab Teyrnon; and for the Laurels, Baron Will Langdon of Greymorne. After being clothed with a cloak, and decorated with a medallion and wreath, Maestra Tomasia publicly swore her oath of fealty to the Crown (scroll illum by Boudicea Ravenhair, callig Ekaterina Volkova).

Her Majesty drew the winning tickets for the basket raffle.

Their Majesties expressed Their gratitude to all those who worked to put the event together and make Carnivale so enjoyable and festive.
