Barony of the Rhydderich Hael

Report of TRM’s Khalek and Branwyn’s first Court at Their Coronation on April 12th, A.S. 42 held in the Barony of the Rhydderich Hael as reported by THL Matilda Bosvyle de Bela Acqua, Silver Buccle, with the assistance of Stephen Calvert deGrey.

His Majesty Khalek declared that as Khan He cannot reign alone and called for his lady wife, Branwyn, to join him. Accompanied by her extensive retinue, her Highness entered the hall and Khalek did ask if she was prepared to take up the burden of the Crown. In reply, Branwyn swore her oath of fealty to AEthelmearc upon the sword of state. She did swear it to the Great Officers of State and to the people of AEthelmearc. Khalek removed the Princess’s Coronet from her brow and replaced it with the Crown.

Their Majesties called to Them Sir Duncan von Halstern and THLady Ilish O’Donovan and in light of the great service they had performed for AEthelmearc did recognize them as Count and Countess. The Ladies of the Rose and all Royal consorts present came forward to recognize Countess Ilish’s new station as a companion of their noble sorority, with a gift of roses. The Rolls of the Kings & Queens of AEthelmearc were read as they departed the Court, and there was much rejoicing for the continuation of the Royal Line.

The Great Officers of the Kingdom were called before Their Majesties to renew their oath of service to AEthelmearc.

The landed Barons and Baronesses present, being Thescorre, Delftwood and St.Swithin’s Bog, did come forth each to swear their fealty to the Crown.

The noble Peers of AEthelmearc, being Knights of the Chivalry, Companions of the Laurel and Pelican and the Royal Peers, in turn came forward and swore to renew their oaths to Kingdom and Crown.

Their Majesties called forth the Captains of the Queen’s Guard, Baron Saleem ibn Alefan and Lady Alessandra Bentivegna da Faenza to receive their oaths of fealty.

Those gentles who came forward to be inducted as members of the Queen’s Guard included: Bjorn bunhauss Olafsson, Corbinus de Cuvae, Gytha Oggesdohtor, Mariana Marie Pietrosanti, Olafr Thorvardarson, Rhiannon the Meke, Sogtungui Bataar, Thomas of Petersham, Aquila d’Athos, Robert, David Chadwyk, Fredeburg and Dominic McMorland.

Their Majesties spoke such words from Their heart of Their love for and dedication to the people of AEthelmearc.

Court was suspended.

Evening Court

The Greater Royal Sanction of Absolute Banishment is continued against Padashaw, modernly known as Kenneth Weaver.

Their Majesties accepted a generous gift from the people of the Dominion of Myrkfaelinn.

THLord Cynwyl MacDaire with the assistance of Grimnwulf, had conducted a kite flying competition in the afternoon and came forward to announce that Seth MacMichael won a prize in the Greatest Height category. One gentle stood out as winner for Most Period Kite for his extensively researched red AEthelmearc kite, but unfortunately his entry was attacked by a nearby kite-eating tree. Lord Charles Brown (aka Sir Wulfstan Huscarl and Artan Beck) received that prize.

Benjamine Hackwood was Awarded Arms (in absentia) for youth combat, teaching and work in camp set up (scroll by Rota Egilsdottir).

Ye-Jing Ying was Awarded Arms for combat prowess, retaining service and bardic arts (scroll calig Roberta McMorland).

Eilionora Ghorm was Awarded Arms for her help in the kitchen and service as choir director of Raven Song (scroll by Isabella Montoya, words by Alessandra Bentivegna da Faenza).

Kirsten of the Rhydderich Hael was created a companion of the Order of the Keystone (in absentia)  for her help with bees, mead and sewing clothes for others (scroll in progress).

Sir Sextus Plinius Callidus announced that the winner of the day’s heavy weapon tournament was THLord Magnus Tindal.

Sir Magariki Katsuichi no Koredono, standing in for his squire, Zuiryu no Ariajoti, the outgoing champion, announced the winner of the fencing tournament and new Queen’s Champion: Joseph Kildonan (scroll illum Rota Egilsdottir, calig Bjorn bunhauss Olafsson).

Sir Wulstan Huscarl requested the Court and all those present bear witness as he undertook the burden of his new squire, Artan Beck, outfitting him with spurs, chain and accepting his sworn fealty.    

The companions of the noble Order of the White Scarf presented Her Majesty with Her own white silk scarf, thus honoring Her as one of their own number and swearing unto Her the allegiance of their hearts.

Duke Morghun Sheridan approached Their Majesties with his squires, protégé and page, declaring that their various weapons would be at Their Majesties disposal; he swore fealty to the Kahn upon his own sword and assured the Katune that She was enthroned within his heart. Their Majesties knowing well the good works of Duke Morghun’s protégé, Baroness Ekaterina Volkova called her forward. They insisted that her service had been noted by many others and called forth Their most noble Order of the Pelican, instructing they to give council such that when she is appointed to return to Their majesties presence she may answer whether she will or not accept induction into their esteemed Order (scroll illum Gwilym o’r Tair Afon, words Meirwen ferch Owein).

Court was closed.
