suggested that perhaps the time had come for Their Majesties to remove
their
herd to the inland steppe, while He, as Their rightful heir, would
remain at

the
harsh winter. Their Majesties were convinced and declared that They

Their Majesties recalled His Highness, Christopher
to Their presence, and as he claimed to be the rightful heir, They did
question
Their Seneschal, Countess Caryl
on the legal precedence. With her confirmation that all was as it
should be,
the Earl
Marshal’s representative, Sir Magariki Katsuichi
no Koredono and THLady
Matilda,
Silver Buccle agreed that HRH Christopher was the true heir.
Their Majesties thanked Their retainers and
discharged them
from their obligation.
Her Majesty called forth Her guard, thanked Them
for Their
loyal service and dismissed them as well.
His Majesty, Khalek spoke from His heart to His
Lady wife,
reminding Her that though He must remove the Crown He had won for Her,
She
would always be His Khatun. As her time as Queen was now ended, His
Majesty requested
a final favor of the guardsmen, and they followed Branwyn from the hall.
His Majesty then withdrew the Sword of State from
its sheath,
asking one last time if His Highness was prepared and heard the oath of
Christopher, as he swore to
uphold the laws and
traditions of AEthelmearc. With that, Khalek removed His Crown, placed
the
Crown of gold Fleur
d’Lis upon King Christopher,
presented Him with
His Sword of State and knelt before His Majesty.
