Storming the Castle on November 15 A.S. 43 held in the Barony of the
Rhydderich
Hael in the presence of TRH’s Maynard and Liadain and his Excellency
Caleb,
Baron of the Rhydderich Hael, as reported by THL Matilda Bosvyle de
Bela Acqua,
Silver Buccle, with the assistance of Lady Sophie of Davenport and
Baroness Giulietta
daVenezia.
Morning Court.
Their Majesties called forth their Order of the Laurel
and inquired if they were prepared to offer council to the candidate, THLady Gabrielle
d’Auvergne. With their affirmation, the lady was summoned into court
and
instructed by Their Majesties to return in the evening with her answer
to the
question of would she accept elevation to this noble order. The
candidate was
then escorted to her place of vigil by the Order.
Evening Court.
Their Majesties gave leave for his Excellency to
hold his
Court.
Her Majesty announced Her choice of winner for the
Arts
Display competition: Ysabeau
Tiercelin (scroll by

Ghiolla
Chomghaill).
Baron Otto of Westphalia
was at long last united with his Order of the Sycamore scroll given by
Their
Highnesses Bear & Judith at AEthelmearc Coronet Tourney in AS XXVII
(scroll
signature unknown).
Lady Jorunn MacDonald
of Clanrandal was
awarded the Order of the Sycamore (in bsentia) for her artistry in
leather and
textiles (scroll by Gillian
Llwelyn of Ravenspur).
Lady Roxane de Valmont
was created a companion
of the Sycamore for her skillful sewing of Japanese clothing and
illumination
arts (scroll by Ysabeau
Tiercelin).
Lord Thomas de la Cascade
made added to the
rolls of the Order of the Sycamore for his tapestry painting and study
of
period technique (scroll by Rota Egilsdottir).
Baroness Marguerite de la Marche
received Their Majesties
Award of Excellence for going above and beyond duty, by autocrating two
major
Royal events two weekends in a row.
Baroness Gillian Llwelyn
of Ravenspur was granted
the Fleur
d’AEthelmearc for her
outstanding gifts of
calligraphy and illumination (scroll by Mary Elizabeth
Clayson and Isolda filia
Georgii).
The children were requested to gather at the back
of the
hall for the procession.
Lord Stephen Calvert
deGrey was granted
admission to the Order of the Millrind for his outstanding service as
chronicler,
list minister, herald and editorial work on the Pennsic Independent
(scroll
illum. Morwena
Everdon, calig Sarah Tuttle,
words Cori
Ghora).
THLady
Gabrielle d’Auvergne was
recalled
to the Court. She was preceded by a procession of people from many
wondrous
cultures, baring gifts for Their Majesties; dancers from the middle
eastern
lands of Constantinople and Thescorre, native Celtic tribesmen and
women,
warriors from the far orient, followed by a whimsical garland of tiny
winged
fairies. As her Ladyship presented herself to the Crown they did ask
her if she
would accept such rank as They wished to bestow upon her, and she
replied that
she would be honored to do so. Their
Majesties called upon her Laurel,
Master Morien
ap Rhys. He requested the return of his
apprentice
belt and offered her another trimmed in gold and matching her gown to
take its
place. The Order of the Laurel was called before the Court and many
peers of
the realm stood and attested to Gabrielle’s worth: for the Order of
Pelicans
Count Jehan de la Marche and Mistress Rosemarian of Edgewater, for the
Chivalry
Sir Ogami Akira and words from Viscount Haakon Oaktall spoke by Baron
Fridrikr
Tomasson, Duchess Maurya Sableswan for the Royal peers and Baroness
Elizabeth
Joanna von der Flossenburg for the Order of Laurels. Gabrielle was
adorned with
the symbols of her new rank: a Laurel cloak presented by Lady Brigit
Donnelly
and Lord Thomas de la Cascade made by Baroness Elizabeth, a cape of
feathers
representing her transformation presented by Count Jehan and Master
Michael
Alewright also made by Baroness Elizabeth, a laurel medallion handed
down from
Viscount Edward Zefran of Gendy to Master Morien, a laurel wreath by
John the
Artificer presented by Mia Brigitsdottir and the ancient, ancestral
fruitcake
of AEthelmearc presented by Baroness Daedez of the Moritu. Gabrielle swore her oath as a peer upon the
sword of
state and His Majesty presented her to the Kingdom as Mistress Gabrielle
