Baronial Investiture
Barony of Blackstone Mountain

The Report of the Court of Her Majesty Morgen of Rye, Queen of Aethelmearc, at the Festival of the Investiture of The Barony of Blackstone Mountain on the sixth day of December anno societatis 43, Their Excellencies Tomas le Devoue and Rowan le Beau, 4th Baron and Baroness of Blackstone Mountain and Their Excellencies Kieran MacUrsus and Katherine Wert, 5th Baron and Baroness of Blackstone Mountain in attendance, THLord Brandubh O'Donnghaile reporting herald.

Morning Court:

Her Majesty opened court and invited Their Excellencies Tomas le Devoue and Rowan le Beau 4th Baron and Baroness of the Barony of Blackstone Mountain to attend Her.  She inquired if They were intent upon stepping down from the position of territorial Baron and Baroness.  Tomas and Rowan replied that they indeed were set on this course, but begged the boon of permission to hold one last court.

Her Majesty consented and gave leave to Their Excellencies Tomas and Rowan to hold a baronial court.

Her Majesty resumed court and invited Their Excellencies Tomas le Devoue and Rowan le Beau into her presence.  Her Majesty did inquire once again if it was Their Excellencies wish to step down from the position of Landed Baron and Baroness.  Their Excellencies did confirm that they were now ready to proceed on this path.  Her Majesty did then take the territorial coronets of the Barony of Blackstone Mountain from Their heads, thanked them for their six years of steadfast service, and released them from Their oaths of fealty.

Her Majesty seeing that the Barony was now without a leader summoned into court Baroness Gwenydd Olafsdattir, the seneschale of the Barony of Blackstone Mountain.  Her Majesty questioned her if there were heirs to take up the coronets and lead the barony.  Baroness Gwenydd replied that indeed an election had taken place in accordance with all Baronial Policies and Kingdom Laws, and that heirs had duly been selected by the populace.  Queen Morgen thanked her for her diligent report.

Her Majesty them called forward THLord Kieran MacUrsus called Kire and THLady Katherine Wert.  Queen Morgen asked them, being duly elected to the office of Territorial Baron and Baroness if they were prepared to accept  the responsibilities and undertake this task.  Kire and Katherine did reply they they had given the matter much contemplation and knelt before Her Majesty prepared and willing to begin this task. Her Majesty then drew the bright gleaming Sword of State from its scabbard and received Their oaths of fealty to the Crown of Aethelmearc, and She did place the Baronial Coronets upon Their heads, investing Them as Their Excellencies Kieran MacUrsus and Katherine Wert 5th Baron and Baroness of the Barony of Blackstone Mountain, and invited Them to sit upon Their Thrones beside Her.  Investiture scroll by the hand of Lady Sarra Moore.

THLord Tomas le Devoue and THLady Rowan le Beau were then recalled into Her Majesty's court.  Her Majesty thanked Tomas and Rowan once more for their years of service to their Barony and to the Kingdom of Aethelmearc, and in recognition of this profound service, She did confer upon them the rank of Baron and Baroness of the Court of Aethelmearc, and placed new coronets upon their heads that all might see.  Scroll for Tomas by Lady Isabella Montoya, scroll for Rowan by Mistress Antoinette de la Croix.

Queen Morgen spoke words of pleasure that The Barony of Blackstone Mountain was once again secure, and that she would assuredly be just as pleased with the Stewardship of these lands in the care of Their Excellencies Kire and Katherine as she had been with Their predecessors.

There being no further business The Court of Her Majesty was suspended.

Afternoon Court.

The Court of Her Majesty Queen Morgen continued.

Her Majesty gave leave to Their Excellencies Kire and Katherine to hold a baronial court.

The Royal court resumed, and Her Majesty recalled Their Excellencies Tomas le Devoue and Rowan le Beau.  Her Majesty explained that there had been some confusion in a matter and that she wished to clear the air in its regard.  Her Majesty did proclaim that Their Excellencies Tomas and Rowan did receive Grants of Arms at the time of their investiture.

Her Majesty then Awarded arms to Sybilla Detwyller in absentia. Sybilla had developed a skilled hand at sewing garb, as her lord Marek did demonstrate, in addition she applied her hands to whatever tasks were needed at events throughout the barony.  Scroll by Lady Failenn de Cearsaigh.

Lady Asta Vagensdottir, also known as Asynia Vagensdottir, was called into Her Majesty's presence, Queen Morgen spoke of Asta's service to her barony as Chatelaine, and to the Kingdom as region 1 chatelaine, further that she has been a great asset to the troll tables at Blackstone Raids for many years, even coordinating demos.  For all these things Her Majesty inducted Lady Asta into the Order of the Keystone, scroll by Lady Rowan l'Crotha.

Queen Morgen called forth Lady Katherine McLuing from her place of hiding behind Their Excellencies' Thrones.  Her Majesty spoke that Lady Katherine set herself to any task that needed doing, and has served her barony well as chatelaine, caring for royalty, coordinating breakfast for the fighters at Blackstone Raids and her current role and Baronial Herald, and so Queen Morgen inducted her into the Order of the Keystone.  Scroll by Lady Rowan l'Crotha.

Her Majesty then inducted Lady Reah Brecc in the Order of the Keystone in absentia for her service as Minister of Arts and Sciences, Chancellor of Minors, and as Exchequer, especially for her work putting together children's activities at baronial events and at the Pennsic War.  Scroll by Lady Rowan l'Crotha.

Queen Morgen then addressed the populace and thanked them for attending the event and giving their support both to Their Excellencies Tomas and Rowan and to Their Excellencies Kire and Katherine, and wished them all safe travels to their homes on this snowy day.

Their being no further business the court of Her Majesty Morgen Queen of Aethelmearc was closed.
