Court report of TRM’s Maynard & Liadain from
Their
Coronation on April 18th A.S. 43 held in the Barony of the Rhydderich
Hael as
reported by THL Matilda Bosvyle de Bela Acqua, Silver Buccle, with the
assistance of THLord Brandubh O’Donnghaile and Baron Fridrikr Tomasson
av
Knusslig Hamn.
Morning Court.
His Majesty called forth Princess
Liadain, removed the
coronet from Her brow
and replaced it with the Crown of AEthelmearc. He bid Her Majesty to
rise as Queen Liadain.
The royal lineage of the Kingdom was read, and the
populace
cheered their new King & Queen.
Their Majesties offered Their oath of service to
the Kingdom
and her people.
Their Majesties invited Christopher,
Morgen and the Royal Peers of AEthelmearc into Their presence. Their
Graces new
status as Duke and Duchess were recognized by the Crown. Duke Christopher
and Duchess Morgen
each swore their personal fealty upon the sword of state. (scroll in

Their Majesties called forth the Great Officers of
AEthelmearc and accepted their oath of continued service given by their
representative, Countess Caryl Olesdatter.
Their Majesties called forth the peers of the
realm, each
Order in succession, and accepted their oaths of continues service
given by
their respective representatives: Sir Tristen Sexwulf for the Order of
Chivalry, Master Morien ap Rhys for the Order of Laurels, Baroness
Arianna of
Wynthrope for the Order of Pelicans, Duchess Rowan de la Garnison for
the Royal
Peers.
Duchess Anna Blackleaf,
Baroness Marguerite
de la Marche and the royal
retainers were called into the
court and given baldrics to mark their station in
the
retinue.
The Queen’s guards were called forth and given
baldrics to
mark their station in the retinue. Baron Vladisla Nikulich was named as
Captain
of the Guard and swore an oath of fealty to Their Majesties on behalf
of all: Lord
Jacob of Dunmar, Lord Tiberius, Lord Ardenn Scot of Clan Scott, Lady
Ysabeau
Tiercelin, THL Olafr Thorvardarson, Lord Pearce Redsmythe, Lady Esa
Baird, THL
Caoinlean Seanchaidh (Tower), Baron Seoan O’Donndubhain.
Her Majesty called forth Sir Angus
MacBain and asked that he
serve as Her
Chivalry Advisor to instruct Her guard in the virtues and skills of
Chivalry.
This he did accept and swore his oath upon the Sword of State.
The companions of the Order of the White Scarf
presented
themselves to Her Majesty as Her protectors and asked Her to be an
honorary
member of their Order. This she did graciously accept.
Court was suspended.
Their Majesties gave leave to His Excellency
Caleb, Baron of
the Rhydderich
Hael, for the purpose of
holding
his court.
Sir
Sextus Plinius Callidus
was created a Baron of
the Court for his long service to the Crown and Kingdom as a moderator
and
trusted advisor (scroll by Cori Ghora).
Their Majesties received joyous greeting from
Crown of the East
Kingdom
by way of Their ambassador Countess Aletha Eastriding.
Cannec
Chilledahar and Tarbold of
Heckla
presented a gift of largess to Their Majesties consisting of wine,
leather belt
favors and pouches.
The AEthelmearc Privateers with crews from the
Riverwolf,
the Waveblade and the Devilfish, presented Their Majesties with a
shipload of
gifts harvested from sea and shore, which They were most grateful to
receive.
THLord
Stephen Calvert
deGrey made presentations before the Court to the winners of the prize
tournaments held during the day. The victor in the fencing lists was Lord Clewin Kupferhelbelinc,
who was also awarded the prize for most courteous. On the thrown
weapons field
the victor was Master
Charles of Alden.
The winner of the da’Vinci Arts and Science contest was Lady Muirgel
ingen Ghiolla
Chomghaill,
who had created the prize scroll, featuring mirror writing.
The outgoing Kingdom Heavy Weapons Champion, Count Duncan von Halstern announced the winner
of Their Majesties Heavy
Combat Champion Tournament: Duke Malcolm MacEoghainn.
His Grace swore a new oath as
Their
Majesties Champion and took up his post at His Majesties side (scroll

The outgoing Youth Combat Champion, Roland,
returned his baldric to Their Majesties, who then declared Aaron the Swift as Their new Youth Champion
and
installed him with the Royal retinue (scroll illum Sextus Plinius Callidus,

The outgoing Arts & Sciences Champion, Lord Pearce Redsmythe
gave Their Majesties a gift of royal seals along with the brass matrix
to
produce more. He announced the winners of several prizes for the day’s
competition: Youth Prize awarded to Melodie of Sunderoak for
illumination and
Thorstein of Sunderoak for fingerloop braid; Populace Prize awarded to
Lady Lucetta
di Cosimo for painted archery targets; the Laurel’s Prize was awarded
to Mistress
Euriol of Lothian for her mustard sauce; Champion’s Choice Prize went
to Lady Alianor
de Ravenglas for her embroidery. Their Majesties chose THLord John Michael
Thorpe
as Their new Kingdom Arts & Sciences Champion for his outstanding
work in
jewelry, and invited him to join Their retinue (scroll by Pearce Redsmythe).
Lord Pearce Redsmythe
was awarded the Order of
the Sycamore for his skill in metalsmithing and jewelry (scroll illum Sthurrim Caithnes,

Their Majesties recognized Their Seamstresses and

work at
events and in kitchens (scroll by Sophie Davenport).
Lady Cordelia Colton was awarded the Order of the
Keystone
for her service behind the scenes and with the Brass Ring demos (scroll

Isolda filia Georgii).
Lord Arden Scot of Clan Scot was made a companion
of the
Order of the Keystone for his service as regional heavy combat deputy,
youth
marshal, trainer and cook (scroll by Zosia Kowalewska).
Lady Ysabeau Tiercelin
was given into the Order
of the Keystone for service as chronicler, webminister, autocrat, cook,
scribe,
seamstress and participation in the equestrian guild (scroll by Morwenna Everdon,
words by Isolda filia Georgii).
Lord Lothinn Virkarsson
was given the Award of
Excellence for his care in helping to set the dais for court and
enlivening the
atmosphere of events.
Their Majesties announced an invitation to the
artisans of
AEthelmearc to display their works at Crown Tournament in the Shire of
Abhainn
Ciach Ghlais and enjoy a social hour following the tournament.
Participants may
contact Mistress Euriol
of Lothian regarding their display needs.
Before Their herald could close court, Duchess Anna
brought
Their Majesties attention to one additional pressing piece of business.
Their
Majesties called forth Their herald to have words with her, as there
were a
number of people who claimed something should be done. Her Ladyship
inquired if
she was to be fired from her position, but Their Majesties said “not
yet.”
Instead They called for the companions of the Order of the Pelican and
asked if
they were all still in agreement. THLady Matilda
Bosvyle de
Bela
Acqua was issued a writ to sit in contemplation of elevation to said
Order at
Pax Interrupts and appear before Their Majesties’ court to give her
answer. Her
Ladyship was escorted from the Royal presence (scroll by Gillian Llwelyn).
Their Majesties had words of thanks for the
populace in
attendance.
