Report of the Court of Their Royal Majesties Maynard and
Liadain, King and Queen of Sylvan Aethelmearc, Their Highnesses Henri
and
Elena, Prince and Princess of Aethelmearc and the assembled Landed
Barons of
Aethelmearc in Attendance, Court held at the 38th Pennsic
War in the
Canton of Steltonwald on 31st day of July through the 8th

Davenport.
Friday Evening July 31st in Aethelmearc Royal
Encampment, at the Memorial for THLord Ulfr hinn svarti Juzki.
Their Majesties Awarded arms to Charity Morgan, the widow of
THLord Ulfr, for she had picked up the pieces left by her lord’s
illness and
death, fulfilling his term as shire exchequer seamlessly.

Saturday Afternoon, the 1st of August, in
Aethelmearc Royal Camp.
Their Majesties summoned THLord John Michael Thorpe and
questioned him if he was ready to sit vigil in contemplation of
elevation to
the Order of the Laurel. Mistress Jenna Macpherson spoke on behalf of
THLord Thorpe’s Pelican Master Ivan ap Myrddin, and took from him the
yellow
belt that he wore, promising to return it should he find himself in
need of it
again. Their Majesties then called the
Members of the Order of the Laurel
there present to attend the gentle and take him forth to deliver unto
him such
counsel as they might have.
Sunday Afternoon the 2nd of August, upon the battlefield
immediately following the 15 man melee tournament.
Their Majesties called THLord Thormgrim Skullsplitter before
them and congratulated him on valiant efforts this year and in many
previous
years fighting in this tournament. Their
Majesties then called upon The Members of the Order of the Chivalry
present to
attend them. They then instructed THLord
Thorgrim to accompany these members and hear what words of wisdom that
they
would give to him that night in camp Stormhaven,
and to answer
Their Majesties Tuesday morning upon the Field of honor at the
Aethelmearc
Muster, as to whether he would accept entry into the Order of the
Chivalry.
Their Majesties further called forth THLord Olafr
Þorvarðarson,
citing his many brave deeds in tournaments and battles and also
instructed him
to go sit Vigil Monday evening on the battlefield, and answer Their
Majesties
in Court on Tuesday evening as to whether he would accept entry into
the Order
of the Chivalry.
Sunday Evening the 2nd of August in Aethelmearc
Royal Encampmnet at Duke Morguhn’s Fete.
Birna Rauð was called before Their Majesties and recognized
by Award of Arms and made a Companion of the Keystone for her services
as land
agent for Caer Cinnuint, gate guard, security dispatcher at Pennsic,
volunteer
at disability services at Pennsic and services in many a kitchen over
the span
of the past 10 years, by the Leave of the Majesties Andreas and
Gabriella of

Their Graces Rowan de le Garnison and Meirwen uerch Owein
were invited to come forward and were presented with His Grace Morguhn
Sheridan’s Augmentation of Arms scroll that had been previously given

at THL Thorgrim’s Vigil.
THLady Katla Ulfheðinn was inducted into the Order of the
Cornelian for her kind words and gentle demeanor. Scrolls

Monday Evening the 3rd of August at Royal
Encampment.
Their Majesties summoned Don Donnan the Solitary and sent
him off to sit Vigil to contemplate elevation to the Order of the
Pelican.
Monday Evening the 3rd of August at Camp of Clan
Blackhart.
Kayen Telva, also called Mug, was awarded Arms for his many
years of work at Pennsic setting up camps and assisting with their tear
downs,
working the shifts at security that no one else wants, serving as a
thrown
weapons marshal, and carrying of objects for any in need.

Monday Night the 3rd of August in Aethelmearc
Royal camp at the Kingdom party.
Mistress Phiala O’Ceallaigh was inducted into the Order of
the Millrind for her vast services over the years to the Shire of
Nithgaard,
serving as Seneschale, MOL, Webminister, coordinating demos and
classes,
autocrating, cooking and serving as a regional seneschale.

Tuesday morning the 4th of August upon the
battlefield.
Their Majesties summoned THLord Thorgrim Skullsplitter
before Them. They asked if he had been
counseled and was prepared to enter the Most Noble Order of the
Chivalry. Their Majesties then called for
the Members
of the Order of the Chivalry who confirmed that they would have this
man listed
among their ranks. Viscount Syr Bear the
Wallsbane and Viscountess Judith of Kirtland spoke as Royal Peers, Sir
Aengus
MacBain and Sir Kadan Chakhilghan spoke as Knights, Maitresse Yvianne
de Castel
d’Avignon spoke as a Laurel, and Mistress Aleea Baga and Mistress Mahin
Banu
Tabrizi spoke as Pelicans all swore that this man was their peer. Their Majesties called for a belt, and
Mistress Aleea provided a plaque belt made by her hand that his wife
THLady
Katla Ulfheðinn tied about his waist.
Their Majesties called for Spurs and THLord Thorgrim’s sons
Ragnar
Thorgrimsson and Torstein Ragnarsson brought forward spurs that had
once
belonged to Earl Bearengear hinn Raudi, and had been worn by Viscount
Syr Bear,
and by Sir Kadan, Syr Bear and Sir Kadan lashed these to his feet. Their Majesties called for a cloak, and
THLady Katla brought forth one that she had made, and Runa
Thorgrimsdottir
assisted her in placing it upon his shoulders.
His Majesty then Dubbed Thorgrim 3 times a Knight of Aethelmearc
and of
the Society. He then called for a chain,
and Sir Kadan produced a chain that had hung from the neck of Syr Bear
and
himself and passed this to Thorgrim, Sir Hroðgeirr Ivarsson
produced the
ancestral chain of Aethelmearc and read its lineage, and upon these
chains did
Thorgrim swear his oath of fealty to King and Kingdom.
His majesty then delivered the last
unanswered blow to Sir Thorgrim. Scroll

Her Majesty invited the populace to attend her to receive Her
Queen’s Favors.
Tuesday Evening the 4th of August at Court in the
Barn.
Their Majesties wished a happy birthday to His Highness
Henri, and to all the other war birthdays to numerous to mention.
Sir Magariki Katsuichi no Koredono was invited forward to
present a gift. Sir Koredono had proven
victorious in the Polearm tournament and had found as his prize a holy
relic
left behind by His Majesty Maynard who had one this tourney previously. His Majesty opened the box that Sir Koredono
offered to find the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.
Their Majesties invited Lady Sophie Davenport forward, and
wished her good luck as her studies would soon take her into the Middle
Kingdom
for some years. Their Majesties thanked
her, and gave her tokens of safe passage for travels through the Middle
Kingdom.
Their Majesties invited Their Chivalry advisor Sir Aengus
MacBain to attend Them, and named him 27th Jewel of

Lady Aleyd von Kiel was made a companion of the Cornelian
for her courtesy and grace from the foundations of the Shire of

Their Majesties called for Lady Lumanitsa the Oracle and
inducted her in the Order of the Keystone for her hard work as
chatelaine of
the Barony of Endless Hills, serving at demos and events, and working
as
autocrat, and assisting the toys for tots program.

Lord Valentin Lyme was inducted into the Order of the
Keystone in absentia for his many services to the Shire of Blackwater
as Arts
and Sciences minister and Minister of the Lists. Scroll

Their Majesties then called for Archibald of Stoke on Trent
and Hannah Brewere. This husband and
wife team were both awarded arms and created members of the Order of
the Keystone
for their services to the Shire of Hornwood, he as exchequer and thrown
weapons
marshal, and she as herald and A&S minister. Scrolls

Maestra Gianna di Aurelio was summoned into court and
created a member of the Keystone for her many years of tireless service
as
autocrat, webminister, teacher, and scribe to her Canton of Steltonwald
and the
Kingdom

Fru Ellisif of the Endless Hills was called into court and
made a companion of the Keystone for her work as Chatelaine for the
Barony of

Their Majesties called for Lady Barbary Rose and inducted
her into the Order of the Keystone for her long years of service as
scribe and signet

His Majesty then bade that all members of the Order of the
Keystone stand and be counted. To these
individuals he gave his thanks, for they are the lifeblood of our
Kingdom.
Their Majesties called forward Lord Marek Severian Vitsdrag,
complimented him on his skills on the heavy weapons field and inducted
him into
the Order of the Golden Alce. Scroll by

But Their Majesties commanded Lord Marek to return to his
seat, and this time to bring his Lady Sybilla Detwyller with him. Their Majesties inducted Lady Sybilla into

Their Majesties called forth Sir Alonzio of the Peacemakers
and praised his deeds as a commander of armies, MOL, Autocrat and even
Knight
Marshal. They invited The Order of the
Millrind to attend them and invested Sir Alonzio as a member of this

Gabriel Hawkes was called forward and created a Companion of

Their Majesties invited Their Archer General THLord Fintan
na Coilled to attend Them. Fintan
invited the Archery Champions team to come forward and be recognized as
he gave
a token of thanks to each member who shot on the team this year. THLord Fintan na Coilled, Lady Muirghein
Gaelbhain, THLord Pearce Redsmythe, Lord Deryk Archer, Lord Giovanni di
Lupo
and THLord Constantine of Clan Black Hart were presented to the
populace, and
Their Majesties thanked them for their services.
Deryk Archer was bid stay a moment. Their
Majesties noted that this was not his
first time to serve the kingdom as an archery champion, and that he
spends much
of his time on the archery range, teaching and marshalling, lending his
own
equipment that others may shoot, and that others had noticed his
dedication for
these many years to the art of archery, and so Their Majesties did
induct Deryk
in the order of the Scarlet Guard.

Their Majesties summoned Don Donnan the Solitary, and
following his procession of the Southern Watch and the Black Legion,
asked if
he were ready to enter into the Most Noble Order of the Pelican. The Order of the Pelican confirmed that they
wished him numbered amongst them, and Their Majesties called for
witnesses to
vouch for the character and service of this man. Duchess
Dorinda Courtenay spoke for the Royal
Peers, Sir Alonzio of the Peacemakers spoke for the Order of the
Chivalry,
Master Huen Damebrigge spoke as a companion of the Laurel, and Dame Margaret Makafee
spoke for
the Order of the Pelican. After hearing
their counsel, Their Majesties called for a cloak, and Mistress
Elisabeth von
Flossenburg provided one. They called
for a Cap of Maintenance which Master Filip of the Marche provided.
Dame Margaret Makafee provided a Pelican Ring
for his finger, and Mistress Orianna Fridrikskona provided the
ancestral
Pelican Medallion of Aethelmearc on behalf of Mistress Matilda Bosville
de
Bella Aqua. Master Donnan swore his oath

THLord John Michael Thorpe was called into Their Majesties’
presence, but before he could ascend the dais, Mistress Jenna
Macpherson
stepped forward holding his yellow belt given by Master Ivan ap Myrddin
and
asked if would have further need of it.
Thorpe answered her that he did no longer require it, and
answered Their
Majesties that he was prepared to proceed.
The members of the Most Noble Order of the Laurel proclaimed that they would
have him
among their ranks. Countess Caryl
Olesdatter spoke as a Royal Peer, Master John the Pell and Sir Aengus
MacBain
Spoke as members of the Chivalry, Master Rian Gortyroyan, Mistress
Alheydis von
Körckhingen and Master Julian de la Pointe of the Eastrealm spoke
as Laurels,
and Mistress Jenna Macpherson spoke and delivered words from Master
Ivan ap
Myrddin as Pelicans. After hearing all
this fine testimony Their Majesties were satisfied and called for
regalia in
which to clad Thorpe. His lady wife
THLady Fionnghuala inghean Diarmada presented a laurel medallion that
had been
made by the hands of Lady Genevieve de Cauldfont. Master
Julian de la Pointe presented a Laurel wreath wrought by
his hand. Lord Andreas van Hassan
brought forth a blacksmith’s apron that he had created, and Mistress
Yvianne de
Castel d’Avignon brought forth the ancestral fruitcake.
Master John Michael Thorpe swore his oath to
King and Kingdom and greeted his new Order.

Their Majesties called forth THLord Olafr Þorvarðarson. His Master, Count Robin Wallace stopped him
and questioned him, after he was satisfied with the answers provided
Count
Robin took from him his Baldric, and delivered him unencumbered to
Their
Majesties. Their Majesties called for
the members of the Most Noble Order of the Chivalry there present to
attend
Them, and asked if was their will to have this man ranked amongst them. Their Majesties called for worthies to speak
for this man, and Earl Sir Yngvar the Dismal and Countess Caryl
Olesdatter
spoke as Royal Peers, Count Robin Wallace spoke as a member of the
Order of the
Chivalry, Countess Isabeau de l’Isle spoke as a Mistress of the Laurel,
and
Duchess Rowan de le Garnison spoke as a Mistress of the Pelican. Duchess Rowan presented Olafr with a white
belt on behalf of her Lord who is no longer with us, Duke Morguhn
Sheridan, and
Olafr’s Lady Wife Lady Aine inghean Riocaird tied it about his waist. Baroness Marguerite de la Marche presented
spurs and Count Robin and Sir Michael of Northwood strapped them to his
feet. Countess Isabeau and THLady Marci
of Hadley had sewn a fine cloak for his shoulders.
His Majesty then drew the sword of state from
its scabbard and dubbed Sir Olafr a Knight of the Society.
Sir Thorgrim Skullsplitter presented the
ancestral chain of the chivalry of Aethelmearc and read its lineage,
and upon
this chain did Sir Olafr swear his fealty.
His Majesty then bid him rise a delivered the last unanswered
blow to
Sir Olafr, and bid him greet his new order.

Her Majesty invited the populace to seek her out on the
battlefield and in the Royal encampment to receive her Queen’s Favors.
Wednesday Afternoon, the 5th of August, in Royal
Encampment Sitting in State.
Their Majesties called Lord Eoin MacGriogair and Lady
Gwendolyn Blackthorne MacGriogair to attend them. This
fine couple had travelled much and
previously lived in the Kingdoms of Atenveldt and Meridies, but have
settled
into their home in Abhain Ciach Ghlais, but have been called away to
Meridies
yet again, yet in their time in Aethelmearc they have proven themselves. Lord Eoin has shown his exemplary courtesy
and kindness who willingly serves with a smile on his face and so Their
Majesties inducted him into the Order of the Cornelian.

Gwendolyn proved herself to be quite
skilled at fiber arts sewing fine garb for her family and friends, she
embroiders,
knits, weaves and makes kumihimo braids, for this Their Majesties
inducted her

Lord Griffin Frasier was given the Aethelmearc Award of
Excellence for his more than 15 years of service to the Shire of
Nithgaard. He has organized demos, fight
practices, feasts, is a heavy weapons marshal who specializes in
helping new
members authorize to fight, and has served as knight marshal and
exchequer for
the group.
Baron Stevan Ulfkellson was called forward and created a
member of the Golden Stirrup for his pursuits in martial authenticity
to create
his armor and weapons in the style of a Viking warrior, and teaching
others to

Their Majesties called forward THLord Pearce Redsmythe and
recognized him as a Grandmaster Bowman, who now had recorded and
average
archery score with crossbow of 113.3.
THLord Brandubh Ó Donnghaile presented him with a
medallion of the rank
of Grandmaster that had been passed down through the grandmasters and
exacted
the promise that he in turn pass it on when next a grandmaster is
recognized.
Wednesday Afternoon, the 5th of August, in the
Merchant Area.
Their Majesties called forward T W Moran, proprietor of the
Livonia Smithery. They spoke that news
had come to Their ears that he had run this smithery for 23 years in
the SCA,
and had not been recognized by royalty for the works of art that he
creates. It had also come to Their
attention that T W had organized a group insurance policy for many of
the small
merchants so that they would have coverage when Pennsic required it. For these things Their Majesties awarded Arms

Wednesday Evening, the 5th of August, in the
Merchant Area.
Their Majesties presented the Minstrel troupe Wolgemut with
the Aethelmearc Award of Excellence for continuing year after year to
lend to
the ambience of Pennsic with their spirited songs.
Thursday Afternoon, the 6th of August, in the
Royal Encampment.
Their Majesties proclaimed that Kenn the Just had achieved
the rank of Marksman in Thrown Weapons, and did bid emissaries of the
Barony of
St Swithins Bog to convey his badge of rank to him.
Thursday Evening, the 6th of August, in the Royal
Encampment.
Their Majesties summoned Her Majesty’s Equestrian Champion
Raghnailt in Eich and awarded her Arms for her skills with the horse
and

Lady Rhiannon Filia Catell was called forward and created a
companion of the Keystone for her tireless efforts growing the
equestrian

Their Majesties called forth Lady Shoshida Tora Gozen, and
also called for Their Order of the White Horn.
They praised the fine lady for her years of work and proven
skills with
the equestrian arts, performing, competing, teaching, promoting, acting
as
marshal, and winning competitions in kingdom and at Gulf Wars. With the assent of the order she was created
a Companion of the White Horn. Panel

Thursday Evening, the 6th of August, in the
Merchant Area.
Their Majesties awarded Arms to Maggie McLeod for her gentle
demeanor, and busy hands with which she works metals and creates garb. Words by THLord Brandubh Ó Donnghaile.
Saturday Afternoon, the 8th of August, at a
hospital in Wexford.
Their Majesties awarded Arms to and created Herman Ritz a
companion of the Order of the Keystone.
Herman is a member of the Coopers’ Staff at Pennsic, for 2
decades he
has worked at troll and at security insuring the smooth operations for
all. Due to declining health, he fell
fracturing his hip, and missed most of Pennsic 38.
