Queen’s Rapier Champion Event
Shire of Sunderoak
The Report of the Court of Their Royal Majesties Henri and
Elena, King and Queen of Sylvan Aethelmearc at Queen’s Rapier Champion
Event
held in the Shire of Sunderoak on the 3rd day of October as
44, THL
Brandubh Ó Donnghaile, Silver Buccle, with the assistance of THL
Cadell Blaidd
du.
Their Majesties called forward Sir Aengus MacBane and
thanked him and his entire staff for their efforts to host the event. His Majesty told the populace that when he
had first announced his intentions to hold an event for the Queen’s
rapier
champion, that Sir Aengus leapt forward and made it happen. In thanks for his efforts in for the event
and his general Chivalric Bearing, King Henri removed a link from his
own chain
and gave it to Sir Aengus as he inspired His Majesty.
Their Majesties announced that the Largess Arts and Sciences
exhibition had been held that day and that Baroness Betha of Bedford
had
presented both the most entries and the highest quality of entries and
proclaimed her the winner.
Mistress Constance Waite was invited to come forward and
Their Majesties charged her with a large basket of toys and bid her
distribute
them to all the children and youths who had attended the event.
Their Majesties bestowed the Aethelmearc award of Excellence
upon Dylan of Sunderoak in absentia for his quick study of protocols at
the
Pennsic War. His efforts at the war had
made a very large impression on Their Majesties. Scroll

Their Majesties called forward James Gallagher and commended
him on fighting in his first tournament.
They also told him that they had heard of his labors as Deputy
Seneschale of the Incipient College of Vulcans Forge, where he fosters
newcomers. For this Their Majesties
awarded him Arms. Scroll by Lady Helene

Uthred Aet Pyttansburh was called forward and awarded arms
for his hard work in the Shire of Sunderoak, for cooking and assisting
at
events, washing dishes and fighting with such prowess that he made his
way into
Quarter finals of the Known World Novice Tourney at Pennsic. Scroll Limned by THL Mea the Bold with

Their Majesties were also truly impressed by the martial
feats of Lord Rouland of Willowbrooke.
At the age of 15 he completed a deed of arms to 1000 bouts in
the span
of merely 7 days at the Pennsic War.
Their Majesties bestowed upon him the Aethelmearc Award of
Excellence
with a scroll by Lady Mary Elizabeth Clason, with words by Lady Mary
Elizabeth
Clason and Mistress Gillian Llwelyn.
Lord Vladimir Two swords was called forward, as he had
conducted a William Marshal Tournament for the Heavy Fighters that day,
which
Sir Kadan Chakhilghan had won, and Their Majesties asked Vlad to pass
on to him

Their Majesties had more business with Vlad Twoswords since
he had won the bearpit tourney that had been conducted at Hervest Raids
the
week before, and Therio Majesties presented him with a scroll to
commemorate
that occasion painted by Lady Isabella of Sylvan Glen with calligraphy
by
Mistress Gillian Llwelyn.
Dona Sasha Grey was called forth and Their Majesties thanked
her for making Them the fine garb in which They appeared, and inducted
Dona
Sasha as a Royal Stitcher and Clothier.
Further They noted that she was always one of the most polite
and calm
people about the list and that her gentility, grace and positive spirit
affected the honor and decorum of those around her and so Their
Majesties
inducted her into the Order of the Cornelian.

Their Majesties called forth Her Majesty’s Rapier Champion
Herr Josef Kildonen. Herr Josef had
conducted a tournament that day to name his successor as Her Majesty’s
Champion
and was proud to announce that Master Donnan MacDuibhshithe had bested
all
others in the tourney. Her Majesty
thanked Herr Josef and gave him a ring from her finger and presented
Master
Donnan with a Leather belt favor made by Lord Reyanrd le Vavaseur as
they
transferred the regalia of the Champion.

Her Majesty further called forth Lord William
Parris and gave him a woven favor made by Mistress Mahin Banu Tabrizi
for his
valiant efforts in giving Master Donnan a suitable opponent to fight in
the
final rounds.
Their Majesties called forward Lady Emily of Dunvagen.
They had a gift for her and presented her
with a small box wrapped in twine and bid her open it and tell all what
she
saw. Inside she found a scroll wrapped
tightly and cut in half, and upon inspection she determined that this
was
Master Quinn Kerr’s half of her cadet contract.
Their Majesties Called for Master Quinn to explain this. Master Quinn said that there was nothing more
he could teach her in the school of fence and took back the blue scarf
that she
wore as his cadet. Her Majesty summoned
Her order of the White Scarf and asked them if they would have this
woman
numbered among them since Master Quinn had released her.
Her Majesty called for a scarf and Master
Quinn produced a fine silk scarf made by his Lady Brynn Kerr and
presented it
to Her Majesty to tie about Lady Emily’s arm.

His Majesty thanked the populace and especially the Shire of
Sunderoak for the event, and set forth this day as a challenge to all
of His
descendents to make the Queen’s Rapier Champion Event a tradition
throughout
Aethelmearc.
Herr Josef Begged the boon to speak as to the second tourney
of the day and announced that Dona Illadore de Bedegrayne had won the
Bear Pit
Tourney with 49 wins, and Don Benedict Fergus ate Mede had come in
second with
26 wins in this tourney.
