Report of the Court of Their
Royal Majesties, Henri et
Elena, Roi et Reine d’Aethelmearc held at the Festival of the Passing
of the
Ice Dragon on the 27th day of March as 44 in the Barony of
the
Rhydderich Hael, Her Royal Highness, Tessa, Princess of Aethelmearc,
Their
Hignesses, Quilliam and Dagmar, Prince and Princess of Ealdormere, and
His
Excellency, Caleb, Baron of the Rhydderich Hael in attendance, THLord
Brandubh
Ó Donnghaile, Silver Buccle, with the assistance of Mistress
Matilda Bosville
de Bela Aqua.
Their Majesties invited Their Highnesses, Quilliam and
Dagmar, Prince and Princess of Ealdormere to join Them in Their court.
Their Majesties granted permission to Baron Caleb Reynolds
to hold his Baronial Court.
Their Majesties announced a five minute recess in the Court.
Their Majesties invited Baron Edward Harbinger of Delftwood
to join Them and invited the populace to join Them in singing happy
birthday to
him, and shared birthday cake.
Their Majesties Spoke of the Recent Gulf Wars. Her
Majesty spoke of Her pride in the
artisans of Aethelmearc, who had provided banners, kneeling pillows,
presentation pillows, cookies and baronial coronets to the Kingdom of
Ansteorra
and the Barony of Namron at Gulf Wars.
Upon hearing the news of the theft of this regalia, Aethelmearc
alone
took up the challenge to replace it, and many strong friendships were
forged at
the war from this act of kindness. His
Majesty spoke of His Pride in the armies of Aethelmearc, the largest
army ever
had traveled on crusade with Their Majesties to Gulf Wars, and They
arrived
with 55 Heavy Fighters, Fencers, Archers and Throwers to represent the
Kingdom
of Aethelmearc.
His Higness Quilliam of Ealdormere felt moved to speak at
this point, as He had faced the armies from across the battlefield. He verified the might of the warriors of
Aethelmearc, that no matter how many times He hurled the might of His
armies
against Aethelmearc, they stood strong and did not yield to any assault. The armies of Aethelmearc held their flags
the entire way through each battle, even when their allies fell, they
stood,
and His Highness saluted their Might.
His Majesty Henri replied that he remembered the spears of
the wolves of Ealdormere, and thanked His Highness for this high praise.
Her Majesty wished to see Lord Richard von Tanner. She had
been truly impressed by his entry in the Pent of the Shortbread
subtlety
castle, and so She named him the Queen’s choice of the artisans and
presented
him a scroll by Lady Gweneth of Neutonne Hill with calligraphy by Lady
Ysabeau
Tiercelin.
His Majesty called forth Lady Sthurrim Caithnes, he had been
impressed by the volume and quality of scrolls that have come through
His hands
during His reign. As a result He found
Himself drawn to the scrolls entered in the pent, and found that the
Pelican
scroll by Lady Sthurrim to be the best among them, and so he proclaimed
her the
King’s Choice of the artisans. Scroll by

Their Majesties bid Lady Sthurrim Caithnes to stay a moment
longer. She had been a scribe of the
kingdom for many years, and the services that she provides for the
courts is
invaluable, but she also retains. For
These things Their Majesties inducted her into the Order of the

Her Highness Tessa, then called for THLady Fredeburg von
Ketzenellenbogen to attend Her. Her
Highness had been impressed by the carved escarbuncle stamp that
Fredeburg had
used to stamp the cloth for the child’s tunic that she had entered in
the pent,
and so named Fredeburg the Princess’ choice.

Their Majesties invited Mistress Elisabeth Johanna von
Flossenburg, the kingdom Arts and Sciences Minister, and her deputy
Lady
Alianor de Ravenglas to enter the court.
They invited all the children who entered the Pent to come
forward and
presented them with hats and presents to encourage them in their
endeavors. They then presented the
A&S Minister’s choices with presents.
They gave fifth place to The hand sewn and stamped tunic from
Project
Karl, fourth to Baroness Marci of Hadley for her hat, third place to
Lord
Richard von Tanner for his Shortbread Castle, and second place to
THLady Katla
ulfhethinn for her embroidered coursing dog collar.
They then called upon Baron Caleb Reynolds
for his research paper on the origins of the fork as the Arts and
Sciences
minister’s overall choice and presented him a scroll by Lady Gweneth of
Neutonne Hill.
Lady Ysabeau Tiercelin was called forward to announce the
winners of the 50/50 raffle. Lady
Ysabeau presented $70 to the kingdom and asked Their Highnesses
Ealdormere to
each pull a ticket to determine the winners of the other half of the
money
raised.
Their Majesties invited the members of the Order of the
Chivalry who participated in the Pilgrimage to Nobility to attend Them. Each member of the order had spoken about
chivalry
and how the ideals of chivalry applied to their personas across various
cultures and time periods as well as the SCA of today.
Their Majesties instructed the youth who had
participated in this pilgrimage to seek out the Knights who had run the
pilgrimage
to obtain tokens.
Their Majesties called forth Lady Alyssa con Stahlgeist, who
had presented research on historical pilgrimage locations at each
station of
the pilgrimage, however this time rather than having her present her
research,
They thanked her for conducting this research across Their reign, and
for the
leadership that she provided to the youth of the kingdom, and so They
inducted
her into the Order of the Sycamore.

Baron Manfred von Halsstern was invited into court and
congratulated on his 25th anniversary of being inducted into
the
Order of the Chivalry.
Their Majesties invited Sir Wulfstan Huscarland Lady Anna
Dillon to attend Them. They bestowed the
Aethelmearc Award of Excellence upon the two for their willingness to
allow the
shire of Hartstone to invade their house regularly and offer their
assistance
to all, providing leadership to the shire and assistance with armoring,
garb
and heraldry.
Master Morien ap Rhys was called forth and congratulated on
his 20th anniversary of his elevation to the Order of the
Laurel. His Students Lady Roxanne de st
Luc and Lady Sthurrim Caithnes presented him with a Japanese
woodworkers’
toolbox made by the hand of Lord Ishiyama Gentarou Yoriie.
Master Morien’s students and the rest of Clan
Yama Kaminari invited Master Morien to join them in the back of the
hall, where
they would help him fill the box.
Their Majesties called upon the Aethelmearc Privateers of
the Ship Riverwolf. The privateers
presented a share of he booty that they had collected during the reign
of Henri
and Elena as a payment of their taxes.
Their Majesties announced that They planned to create a new
youth order in the kingdom, to be named the order of the Silver
Stirrup, to
serve as an award for youth for martial authenticity in their armor
upon the
field of combat and they wished to induct Lord Rouland of Willowbrook,
Aaron
the swift, and Thorstein Thorgrimsson as principles of this new order.
Their Majesties called forward Sarafina Kowalewska and inducted
her into the Order of the Silver Buccle for her labors illuminating
scrolls,
retaining, and selling raffle tickets for fundraisers.

Boi of Sylvan Glen was called forward and inducted into the
Order of the Silver Sycamore for his artistic endeavors as an
illuminator in
the Sylvan Glen Scriptorium, his assistance in kitchens, painting award
medallions and working on his skills at archery. Scroll

Their Majesties announced that at Gulf Wars They had named
Viscountess Judith of Kirtland as 28th Jewel of Aethelmearc
for
Their Reign.
Their Majesties invited the Members of the Scarlet Guard
there present to attend Them. Baron
Caleb Reynolds spoke for the group,that they wished to recognize a
historic
accomplishment. Lord Eldritch the Owl
was called forward and presented a medallion of a master Bowman for his
achievement of a royal rounds average score of greater than 80. This was a feat indeed as at the time the
scores were shot, Eldritch was 15 years old, making him the fifth
youngest
archer ever to achieve this rank in the history of the entire society.
Their Majesties presented Sigils of Aethelmearc for the
extraordinary services to the crown by Lord Marcus de Ceour of
Steltonwald,
Lady Heather Ruriksdottir, THLord Fintan na Coilled, Mistress Gianna di
Aurelio, Mistress Anthoinette de la Croix, Baron Gordon of Westover,
Lord
Lothar Hugelman, Lord Brennan of Acre, Lord Eckhart von Instaburg, Dona
Sasha
Grey, THLord Gabriel Hawkes, THLord Constantine of Clan Blackheart,
Lord
Reynard le Vavasseur, Lady Aelfgifu of the Glen, Lady Lantani de Forez,
Lady
Rosalinda de Castille, Countess Isabeau de l’Isle, Mistress Roberta
McMorland,
His Highness Malcolm MacEoghainn, Sir Isenwulf THorolfsson, Lord Vlad

Liam McKillip was awarded arms in absentia for his service
to the arts community in the Shire of Wintersett, and his artistic
talents in
metalworking and blade smithing. Scroll

Their Majesties summoned Clan Yama Kaminari to attend Them
and inducted the Clan into the Order of the Golden Stirrup, for their
achievements in representing feudal Japan in their armor on the field,
and the
Taiko drums and structure of their camp.

Lady Marija Kotok was summoned into court and Their
Majesties thanked her or all she did for the scribal communities, for
her
teaching of the scribal arts, for providing scrolls, for leading the
Sylvan
Glen Scriptorium, and inducted her into the Order of the Fleur
d’Aethelmearc

Their Majesties called forth Don Antonio de Luna. His
Majesty thanked him, as he had been the
thrown weapons champion of Maynard and Liadain, and had run the
tournament to
select Their Thrown weapons champion, during the course of which, Don
Antonio
had taught His Majesty how to throw an axe.
Their Majesties understood that this was a normal occurrence for
Don
Antonio, and so They inducted him into the Order of the White Horn for
his
skills and services to Thrown weapons.

THLady Katla Ulfhethinn was summoned before Their Majesties
and created a companion of the Order of the Millrind for her Services
to the
scribal arts, hosting meetings in Sunderoak, cooking feasts, and
serving as
kingdom Houndmistress. Scroll by

The Autocrat of the event, Lady Yasbeau Tiercelin, asked
that the populace assist in moving tables from the second floor down to
the
first after the conclusion of court.
Their Highnesses Quilliam and Dagmar of Ealdormere thanked
Their Majesties for having them, as they had had a wonderful day,
especially
watching the enthusiasm of the 16 and 17 year old youths who were
authorized to
fight heavy on that day.
Their Majesties thanked Her Highness Tessa, Their Highnesses
Quilliam and Dagmar for joining Them in Their court, and His Excellency
Caleb
for his Barony and his people who had hosted the event.
They believed that everyone had been able to
share a piece of the dream that day in whatever form that it took for
them.
