23: Fáelán mac Geróit - New Name & New Device
"Quarterly argent and sable, a wolf's head cabossed counterchanged maintaining in its mouth three thistles slipped inverted counterchanges argent and gules."

Black [p251] documents Fáelán as Scots Gaelic, but cites it only to 14th c. though he calls it a reduced form of Fáelchiu, which he cites to the 8th c. Gerald is described by OCM [p110] as .brought into Ireland by the Anglo-Normans., so it is not Gaelic in origin, then. We were unable to find evidence of Gerald or Geróit in Scotland. This is a thoroughly register-able name, but not what ILoI says the client wants. Does he want this Irish name, or does he want something 8th c. Scottish?

No conflicts found.

Blazon-fu: "Per chevron Or and purpure, an angel argent wings inverted and haloed and maintaining _to base_ a sword palewise inverted and a bordure embattled sable."

No conflicts found, 'to base' is a better heraldic description than 'in front', 'straight' is default for a sword.

29: Gabriel Hawkes - New Badge
"Per chevron Or and purpure, two fleurs de lys sable and a winged sword argent, a bordure embattled sable."

No conflicts found.

30: Gareth Whytebull - New Name - No problems found.

RfS 7.3. Period Artifacts. "Artifacts that were known in the period and domain of the Society may be registered in armory, provided they are depicted in their period forms."
Since wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golf#History) says that the game of golf originated in Scotland in the 1100's then the heraldic depiction of a golf tee is ... what? Typo? Uh, never mind. :D No conflicts found.

37: Hans zem Dragen - New Name & New Device
"Gules, a bend bendy sinister argent and sable between a drawn bow and arrow bendwise sinister and a sword bendwise Or."

Gules, argent, sable, Or, bend, bow, arrow, sword - 8 items technically pushes the complexity limits, but it's a unified design and the bow and arrow are visually one item, so it should pass. No conflicts found.

38: Helene al-Zarqa' - New Device Change
"Azure, a double-headed eagle displayed argent and on a chief indented Or three semi-minums azure."

No conflicts found.

No conflicts found.

We know we were only supposed to do up to #40 for this letter, but we wanted some discussion from AEthelmearc.s College of Heralds on these two.

41: Isabel la Roja - New Name & New Device
"Or, a dragon-headed bow vert."

Clear of:
Name: Brice Armbruster
Date: January 1988
Kingdom: West
Type: Badge
Blazon: Argent, a crossbow vert.
1 CVD for field, 1 CVD for bow-type

"A letter of permission to conflict between Isabel la Roja, Or, a dragon-headed bow vert, and Seamus Rogan, Or, a dragon-headed bow vert, is provided, signed by Seamus Rogan (using his legal name)."

First of all, we can.t find any armory for Seamus Rogan registered. Is this a simultaneous registration with another kingdom? Secondly, we thought there had to be at least one difference between the two devices. We know 'co-registrations' were done in the past, are they acceptable now?

42: Ishiyama Gen'tarou Yori'ie - New Name & New Device
"(Fieldless) On a hexagon Or a rabbit's head cabossed sable."

No conflicts found. We recall there was a rule about registering charged geometric shapes as fieldless badges, essentially stating that this submission is equivalent to "Or, a rabbit's head cabossed sable." We can't find that ruling, has it been changed?
