Letter of Intent #39
Bertran de Mellegwenn

1. "Slipped and leaved" means with the stem and attached leaves showing. I question whether "slipped" alone means just the leaves. Perhaps the submitter means "barbed and seeded"?

2. I don't know if "enarched inverted" is period, but it seems clear enough.

3. The chief is drawn too small. Re-blazon "Sable, two lions dormant and a chief embattled erminois."

4. I believe this conflicts: Jennet of Twominds|7503|D|Per pale argent and sable, a sun in his splendor throu ghout of the field, rayed and featured counterchanged.||PPALE:argent:pl:~and sab le|SUN:1:multicolor neutral:unc (At most 1/2 for tertiary cross and 1/2 for tincture?)

5. I believe that the second badge conflicts with this: Sigenoth the Blissful|9801H|b|Quarterly sable and vert, a cross bottony argent.| (For Maison de la Croix Blanche)|CRAC:1:argent:spa|QLY:pl:sable:~and vert (1 for difference of field, 1/2 for color on cross.)

7. N.B. Name is French; PicDic says that wolves teeth are German charge. No reason not to pass, though.

8. There are a number of registered devices with ram's heads combattant: Mouice Negra|7908|D|Gules, two rams' heads erased combattant sable, fimbriated a rgent.||ARRANGEMENT9HEAD,RESPECTANT|GU|HEAD-BEAST,RAM AND GOAT CTANT|AZ|BIRD:2:argent:dove:second|CHEVRON:1:or:pl:unc|HEAD-BEAST,RAM AND GOAT Quentin Wrenguard ap Rhys|8608T|b|Azure, two ram's heads erased combattant Or.|| ARRANGEMENT9HEAD,RESPECTANT|AZ|HEAD-BEAST,RAM AND GOAT These are drawn couped, and should be blazoned as such. I think this may be clear. (? -- I'm not sure how the two registered devices avoid conflict, but this one is more different.)

12. Conflicts with: William of York|7301|d|Per pale sable and argent, a roundel counterchanged.||PPA LE:pl:sable:~and argent|ROUNDEL:1:multicolor neutral:pl:unc (1/2 for tertiary.)

15. I believe that "a massacre" would be more correct than "the horns of a massacre", based upon the description in the PicDic. In service, Bertran de Mellegwenn
