Letter of Intent #40
Myrkfaelinn Commenting Group
Salutations to Lord Dagonell Collingswood, Garnet Herald from the
Myrkfaelinn Poursuivant. Forthwith are my comments on ILoI #A40.
1. Barely clear of:
Marcus of the Locked Mountain|8106C|d|Vert, three chevronels Or,
overall
a castle sable, fimbriated Or.
||CASTLE:1:debruising:sable:t1|CHEVRON:3:g3pna:or:pl:unc|VT
2. By my count, it conflicts with this badge:
Alastar Scott MacCrummin|9703E|b|(Fieldless) A triangular trivet azure.
||NO|TRIPOD AND TRIVET:1:azure:sole primary
(1 CD for fieldless, but only 1/2 for change of number of primaries.)
3. I believe this should be reblazoned "On a quatrefoil pean, a
lion
rampant argent." No conflicts found.
4. Is this a period depiction of a cannon? I can only find one
device
using a cannon as a charge, and the PicDic states that it "does not
appear to have been used as an heraldic charge in period." No conflicts
found.
5. No conflicts found. Near misses:
Alaric Friedrich von Rundstadt|8807K|d|Argent, a cross gyronny sable
and
gules, between in bend a decrescent and an increscent sable.
||AR|CRESCENT:2|CROSS:multicolor:pl:unc
Twae Linnes, Shire of|9305A|d|Vert, a cross ermine between four
castles,
each within a laurel wreath Or.
||CASTLE:4:or:t1:unc|CROSS:1:ermine:pl:unc|LW:4:or:second:surrounding:unc|VT
6. Looks like this conflicts with at least two:
Hector aus Pier|9402D|d|Per chevron throughout azure and Or, in base a
pear vert.||FRUIT9AND VEGETABLE-OTHER:1:spa:vert|PC:azure:pl:t1:~and or
Niccolo Stefani di Firenze|9204Q|b|(Fieldless) A pear Or.||FRUIT9AND
VEGETABLE-OTHER:1:or|NO
(Incidentally, don't these two technically conflict with each other?)
7. Looks clear to me. The PicDic mentions that a group of trees is
often blazoned a "hurst". The pun escapes me, alas.
9. Grammar of name looks simple enough. Device is clear.
11. May conflict with:
Rhiannon of the Isle|8701S|d|Per saltire pean and vert, in fess two
dragons passant Or.
||ARRANGEMENT-IN FESS:2:gpa:or|DRAGON:2:or:t1|PSALT:pean:~and vert
(I count 1 CD for field, 1/2 for pose change, maybe another 1/2 for
location in chief?)
13. Should be no problem here, I think.
14. Looks clear, since it's simple armory.
15. I think it's clear. I think counter-compony is correct.
16. The current blazon implies that both the fleur-de-lis and the
lion
are on the pile.
17. The plate may not be fieldless, since it is indistinguishable
from
a round badge argent.
18. Vivats to her Excellency!
19. No conflicts found.
20. I believe this conflicts:
Mirwen Havenwood|8111C|d|Per pale Or and azure, an oak tree eradicated
per pale vert and argent.
||PPALE:or:pl:~and azure|TREE-ROUNDED SHAPE:1:multicolor neutral:spa
(1 CD for fieldless, 1/2 for change of tincture. The default tree is an
oak.)
21. I think this is clear:
Richard Lawson of the Lake|8309M|d|Quarterly sable and barry wavy
argent
and azure, an Arabian lamp enflamed Or.
||FIELD DIV.-BARRY:argent:wavy:~and azure|LAMP AND LANTERN:1:or:spa
|QLY:pl:sable:~and multicolor
That's it. I'll think about the April letter in my spare time.
Regards,
Bertran de Mellegwenn
