Unto the Ćthelmearc College of Heralds greetings from Dagonell Collingwood, Garnet Herald.

01.) Asmé Scales (F)– new name and device

Asmé – Withycombe, pg. 106 cites Esmé dated to 1542. The submitter prefers Asmé, but will accept the documented form if need be.

Scales – Black, pg. 711 dated 1626, Reaney & Wilson, (sn. Scales) dates 'de Scales' to 1281.

"Argent, on a chevron or fimbriated azure between four feathers two and two, three roundels gules."

02.) Brann MacNaughton (M)– new name

Brann – O'C&M (sn. Bran) gives the spelling Bran. The submitter would prefer two n's, but will accept one if necessary.

MacNaughton – Black, (sn. MacNaughton) gives this as a header form, dates various spellings from 1247 on.

04.) Ceara McMillan (F) – new name and device

Ceara – fem. Derivative of Ciaran, saint's name. Header in O'Corrain, Donnchach & Maguire Irish Names

McMillan – Header in Black, Surnames of Scotland. McMillan is an Argyllshire family name dating to 1100.

"Per bend azure and gules, a dragon's head erased facing sinister, a bordure argent."

05.) Christopher of York – device resubmission, name registered Dec. 92

"Counterermine, a tiger's head cabossed or marked sable, a bordure ermine."

His previous submission, with the tiger proper, was returned at Laurel.

Device: "Sable, a cubit arm, hand in glove, fessways, proper, maintaining a sword paleways, argent, on a chief argent, three rondels sable."

07.) Dennis of Greenway (M) – change of name to Denys the Decadent and new device

Denys – This gentle wishes his name to be accepted as he is called. There is of course, St. Denys of Paris. I pointed out to him that I found Denys as a feminine name, he said he did not care. Therefore, I submit a Denys Burden named in the will of John Credy Esq. of London (1426) from The Fifty Earliest English Wills in the Court of Probate, London 1387-1439, Furnivall, Frederick, ed., Trubner & Co. (London 1882) (pce)

Also, Denys (as a variant spelling of Denis) is given in Kelly, Sean & Rogers, Rosemary Saints Preserve Us!: Everything You Need to Know about Every Saint You'll Ever Need, Random House, New York, pg. 76 (pce)

Filippo – Filippus Torselli is one of the numerous Filippos mentioned on this page. The name is Latinized in the written document.

De Sancto Martino – A Viriano de Scanto Martino appears on this web site.

13.) Gareth Kincaid – device resubmission, new badge, name registered Aug. 99

Device: "Per pale sable and argent, a Celtic cross on a sun counterchanged, all within a bordure counterchanged."

His previous submission, with tinctures reversed, was returned for conflict with Jennet of Twominds "Per pale argent and sable, a sun in his splendor throughout of the field, rayed and featured counterchanged."

Badge: "Per saltire gules and argent, a hammer sable palewise."
