Letter of Intent #67
Pendar the Bard, Musimon Herald

Greetings unto the Æthelmearc College of Heralds from THL Pendar the Bard, Musimon Herald Extraordinary.

Herein find commentary on the AEthelmearc internal letter dated April 2, 2003.

1. Aengus MacBain. (Fieldless) A thistle per pale sable and Or. No conflicts found through 12/02.

> Can someone tell us when his name was registered?
Angus MacBain
This name was registered in December of 1995 (via the East).
The following device associated with this name was registered in June of 1999 (via AEthelmearc):
Azure, a stag's head couped affronty Or, a bordure embattled argent.
The following badge associated with this name was registered in September of 2000 (via AEthelmearc):
(Fieldless) On a quatrefoil pean a lion rampant argent.

2. Æthelmearc, Kingdom of. Acceptance of transfer of heraldic title -- Seedling Pursuivant

This did not need to be included on an internal LoI. Just the external LoI.

> Can someone tell us when the title was originally registered?
Seedling Pursuivant
This heraldic title was registered to East, Kingdom of the in May of 1981 (via Laurel).

3. Aine ingen uí Mac Aonghus. Pean, a horse's head couped contourny and on a chief embattled argent three towers vert.

No conflicts found through 12/02.

4. Aurenca Mouly. Or, on a chief gules three crosses moline Or.

For those who were wondering, this is not field primary armory. RfS X.4.a.ii. Field-Primary Armory - If neither of two pieces of armory being compared has charges, or if each has the same ***uncharged*** peripheral ordinary, they may derive greater difference from changes to the field. Such armory will be called field-primary armory .

So this would theoretically conflict with something like "Or, a <charge> and on a chief gules three crosses moline Or. with only 1 CD for removal of the primary charge group. No conflicts found through 12/02.

5. Bataar Sogdo.

"Baatar is found in the list of personal names in "Names and Their Sources" (http:// www.9v.com/crystal/kerij-e/docs/names.htm) meaning brave, courageous, or hero. This same source declares that Bataar is the only Mongolian title recognized in the SCA, and it is used to denote knighthood." I guess it's kinda obvious that this will have to be returned for violation of RfS VI.1. Names Claiming Rank. -- Names containing titles, territorial claims, or allusions to rank are considered presumptuous.

6. Fintan na Coilled. Argent, a stag rampant gules and on a chief azure two pairs of arrows crossed in saltire argent.

You don't need to say the arrows are "crossed in saltire", "in saltire" should be quite sufficient. No conflicts found through 12/02.

8. Máel Coluim map Vipogwench. Vert, a serpent in annulo argent and a chief rayonny ermine.

Conflicts with Ragnachar Radagaist (4/98 via Atlantia): Vert, a serpent in annulo argent. Only 1 CD for addition of the chief.
