Happy July, and thank you to all of our commenters this month: Aryanhwy, Aurenca, Jehan, Knute, Myfanwy, and Roana. Thanks also to everyone who had input at the Garnet Roadshow: Drustan, Egill, Elsbeth, Ennoguent, Gilles, Giulietta, Goimir, Margaret, and Myfanwy. You’re all wonderful people!
The items accepted in the letter have been forwarded to Laurel on XLoI Æ69; they will be decided on in November 2003.
(Fieldless) A demi-escarbuncle argent.
The original submitter, Angelique de Beauvais, decided at the eleventh hour that she would rather this badge be registered to the Kingdom and not herself.
Per bend sinister sable and purpure, a wyvern sejant Or.
This device is in conflict with a variety of preexisting pieces of armory: Alethia Elphinstone of Dragonhold (Vert, a dragon sejant, wings elevated and addorsed, maintaining in dexter forepaw a crescent Or) with one CD for changes to the field but no CD between a dragon sejant and a wyvern statant; Percival de Toulouse (Per fess indented azure and gules, a wyvern passant Or) with one CD for changes to the field but no CD at all between a wyvern passant and a wyvern statant; possibly Robert Peregrine de Marécage (Per pale indented azure and gules, a cockatrice sejant, wings addorsed, Or, belled and jessed proper, maintaining in dexter talon a sword palewise argent) with one CD for changes to the field, but possibly not a CD between a wyvern statant and a cockatrice sejant. (For reference, a wyvern sejant is considered to be identical to a wyvern statant.)
(Fieldless) An amaryllis flower Or seeded sable.
This badge is being pended for further research and redrawing. We suspect that this will be in conflict with Caid (Fieldless) A rose Or barbed and seeded vert, as the Laurel precedent of November 1997 says that there is not a CD between a sexfoil and a rose, and we feel that an amaryllis blossom is probably, for purposes of conflict, identical to a sexfoil. However, we will forward this badge to Laurel to make the final call next month, at the same time as Amaryllis’ other badge.
Per bend sinister azure and sable, an armadillo rampant argent.
Although the forms listed House Lindau, further consultation with the submitter reveals that Their Graces originally wanted the German designator Haus (there seems to have been a minor paperwork snafu somewhere along the line) and so we have made this change.
Ermine, a cross formy gules and a chief embattled sable.
(Fieldless) A comedy mask per pale ermine and gules.
Gules, a rose Or between three rabbits courant contourney in annulo argent.
Or, on a mountain issuant from base purpure a donkey passant contourny Or.
We are hoping to get a letter of permission to conflict from Sir Robert of Dunharrow (Or, a mountain of three peaks issuant from base vert, snowcapped and charged with a horse courant to sinister argent).
Nice name!
(Fieldless) A demi-sun throughout gules within and issuant from a mascle fesswise argent.
Per pale sable and argent, a dragon rampant counterchanged maintaining a flame Or.
Careful reading of the OC&M entry reveals that Ríona is a modern pet form of Caiterína; we were unable to find any evidence of its use in period, and as such it is unregisterable. We are attempting to contact the submitter and see if she will accept the full form of the name. Her device cannon be forwarded without a name.
Sable, on a bend wavy between two stag’s massacres argent a rowan branch fructed vert.
Argent, a domestic cat’s head cabossed and on a chief azure three fleurs-de-lys argent.
Quarterly gules and sable, three bendlets argent.
