Herein my comments on AE ILOI # 70

1. Amaryllis Coleman -- New badge (Fieldless) A needle fesswise Or threaded vert.

It should be "fesswise reversed"

2. Aurenca Mouly -- New badge
(Fieldless) A crescent gules.

As the lady herself called this, it conflicts with the Red Crescent insignia in the mundane world. I don't believe that sending it up will change the ruling, and bringing the treaty itself to the attention of Laurel in an LOC or an XLOI should be sufficient. Why put the submitter through 6 months more waiting?

3. Aurenca Mouly -- New badge
(Fieldless) On a crescent gules a cross moline Or.

I believe this also conflicts with the Red Crescent insignia. Also, I believe that it is offensive, especially in now.

7. Kateryna Ty Isaf -- New badge
(Fieldless) A cat's head cabossed per pale sable and argent.

Although I believe it is clear, this is mighty close to Tara nic an Fhleisdeir: Per pale sable and argent, a domestic cat's head cabossed counterchanged, orbed vert, pupilled of the field. As I read it, Kateryna should be clear by the zen cvd for fieldlessness and another cvd for reversing the tinctures of the head. There is NO cvd for lion vs. cat.

8. Isabel of Sherwood -- New name, New device
Or, a horse passant sable between four fleurs-de-lys three and one azure.

I believe this is in conflict with the device cited on a previous LOC, Melacha of the Blue Mountain, "Or, a chestnut foal with four white stockings and a blaze statant regarding a Blue Mountain butterfly [Papilli ulysses] perched on his rump, all proper" (West, Aug79).

The major problem here is all the proper stuff. A chestnut foal (or horse) would be considered equivalent to sable , as it is primarily dark brown. The stockings & the blaze are decorative additions, and the butterfly, though pretty, doesn't give a cvd. Thus, you get one for the addition of the secondary charges and nothing else.

9. Khodoska Mordasova -- Name and device resubmission
Per pale azure and argent, an open book between three suns counterchanged.

While I believe this is clear, it is worth noting Galen Shadowraven: Per pale argent and azure, an open book and in chief a sword reversed counterchanged.

I believe there is one cvd for reversing the field (which I at first missed), one cvd for the type of secondary charge, and another for the number of secondary charges. But it's close. When you divide things per pale and counterchange them, keeping track of which tincture is where can be difficult.

10. Mustafa the Red -- New name, New device
Argent, a bend azure between an increscent gules and a sword sable.

I have a difficulty with the complexity of this device. 4 tinctures and 3 charges is a bit much. It's close to violating RFS VIII.1.a, but squeaks clear.

Respectfully submitted,
