5. Rashid al-Tayyib -- Per fess argent and vert, two gophers courant contourny and another courant proper.
There is a weirdness for using new world fauna.
The only registration for gophers in SCA history are:
Edward the Ugly - August of 1984 (via the Middle):
Vairy vert and argent, a gopher statant erect to sinister Or.
West, Kingdom of the - registered at some point and released in July
of
1988 (via the West):
Or, a gopher courant erect sable, wearing on its hind paws winged
sandals and carrying in its dexter fourepaw a billet argent.
It would be a good idea to provide some documentation for this charge, especially the coloration because of the antiquity of the registrations which predate the current RfS.
There can be a wide variation of natural coloration, meaning that a gopher proper doesn't adequately specify the tincture.
Normal heraldic practice would have all three gophers facing the same way. This submission has a CD for orientation from the default.
Unfortunately, the difference in orientation isn't identifiable due to low contrast. If the gophers are a metal, they lack contrast against the argent. If they are a color, they lack contrast against the vert. This means that the submission violates RfS VIII.3 because the exact orientation of ALL the gophers aren't readily appearant, and the assumed orientation from the high contrast gophers doesn't match the reality of the emblazon.
