Letter of Intent #73
Comet Commenting Group

Unto Ailis Garnet and Roana Cornelian, as well as the members of the AEthelmearc College of Heralds, greetings from Cadell Comet!

Enclosed, please find commentary on ILoI AE73. On behalf of the Comet Commenting Group, I apologize for its lateness. I was assisted in the preparation of this commentary by THLord Kieran MacRae, Vrouwe Odriana vander Brugghe, and Aurenca Mouly (recording).

Unless otherwise stated, all documentation is as stated and no conflicts were found through June 2002.

3. Gryphon's Keep, Shire of - New name, New device

Gules, a gryphon segreant and on a chief embattled argent a laurel wreath between two pheons inverted sable.

We suggest contacting Elsbeth Clarion for information about the registration of House Gryphon Hall in August 1999 via Atlantia. The external letter of intent might provide further supporting documentation.

Arval's Agincourt article lists a male given name Gryffen dated to the 15th century. Gryffin dates to 1559 in Mari's Chesham article (http://www.s-gabriel.org/names/mari/chesham/) as a surname. Bardsley has various spellings with y in various positions. We were unable to find anything which supports this spelling in period.

4. Lyev Davidovitch - New badge

Azure, a sparrowhawk volant to sinister argent.

We agree with the conflict called by Aryanhwy and Cnut. However, this would be clear if it were "(Fieldless) A sparrowhawk volant to sinister argent."

5. Rashid al-Tayyib - New name, New device

Per fess argent and vert, two gophers courant contourny and another courant proper.

We do not know if a gopher proper would be of a light or dark tincture, but in either case, some of the gophers will be either metal on metal or color on color. This must be returned for non-compliance with the contrast guidelines outlined in RfS VII.2.
