2 December AS XXXVIII
Greetings from Myfanwy!
Herein pray find comments on Æ LoI #73. Because it was a small letter, I tried to skim the LoAR for all the months after 9/02. which apparently is as updated as the oanda.sca.org site gets. [I guess it's time to go back to doing conflict checking on the farreaches site! :-) ]
I'm trying to get this squeaked in under the deadline wire (it's about 4:50 pm) because I was out of town for a week plus, and still had 6 months worth of LoARs to skim between the second half of the laundry. (Monday was the first 5 loads, including two sleeping bags. Sigh.)
I remain your servant and the Society's.

PS -- I couldn't find my copy of Attwater, so I don't know what saint's day it is! :-)
Name docs are as cited.
Nicely drawn.
clear of: Robert the Forgotten of Foxmoor (3/99 Atlantia) -- Vert, a
fox's mask, and on a chief argent three pheons sable.
There is a CD for changing the number of the primary charge(s), and one
for
changing the type and tincture of the tertiaries.
clear of: Fahlah al-Nasafiyyah (12/98 Outlands) -- Vert, a phoenix,
on
a chief argent three crescents azure.
clear of: Mora of Lincolnshire (9/99 An Tir) -- Vert, a tyger rampant
contourny and on a chief argent three moons in their plenitude azure.
In each case, there are CDs for changing the type and number of the
primary
charge. There is probably not one for changing only the
posture/position of
the tertiaries, however.
clear of: Diego Ramos del Lobo (7/03 Atenveldt) -- Vert, a wolf
rampant
contourny and on a chief argent three fleurs-de-lys azure.
There are CDs for changing the type and number of the primary charge.
There is
only a change of type for the tertiaries.
The docs for "Esa" are as cited, except that [URL: http://www.s-gabriel.org/names/talan/scottishfem/scottishfemearly.html]. R&W docs are as cited.
The chief should come down further on the field, even if that means the gryphon has to be a bit smaller.
clear of: Domhnall Ó Catháin (2/95 East) -- Per pale
azure and sable, a
griffin segreant and on a chief dovetailed argent two floats gules.
There is a CD for changing the field tincture, and one for changing the
type
and tincture of at least half the tertiaries.
probably clear of: Connor Mac Phie (2/01 Meridies) -- Vert, a winged
stag segreant, on a chief embattled argent three pheons sable.
This may be a visual (segreant critter vs. segreant critter), but there
is
probably a CD between them. There is also a CD for changing the field
tincture. There may not a CD for changing the tertiaries -- the
posture/position changes for two of them, and the third is a different
charge,
so it could go either way.
conflict: Petr Aleksivich of Novgorod (1/74 ??) -- Azure, semy of
stars
a naturelle, overall a hawk volant to sinister argent.
There is only one CD, for adding the semy. Since this is very old, I
don't
know if we can track this person down to get a letter of permission to
conflict, but maybe someone at the Laurel level can help.
probable conflict: Fionndaire Fearcuairt (4/97 Drachenwald) -- Per
pale
azure and sable, a falcon volant to sinister maintaining in its claws
an oak
slip argent.
There is only one CD, for changing at least half the field. The
maintained
charge would count for nothing. However, since this is a reasonably
recent
registration, there is a better chance of tracking this person down to
try and
get a letter to conflict.
possibly not clear of: Rannveigr Haakonardottir (badge 6/01 East) --
Azure, a falcon close contourny argent. (for House Utfara)
possibly not clear of: Este, House of (12/94 Laurel) -- Azure, an eagle
displayed argent crowned Or. [important non-SCA arms; also the arms of
Modena]
There is a CD for posture (wing position), but I'm going to call a
raptor a
raptor.
probably clear of: Rorik Fredericsson (12/99 Atlantia) -- Azure, a
grey
goose volant bendwise wings addorsed proper gorged of a coronet Or.
probably clear of: Reagan of the White Dawn (6/81 Atlantia) -- Azure, a
songbird migrant bendwise, maintaining in its beak a fusa, Or.
In each case, there is probably a CD for the type of bird, and one for
orientation.
clear of: Yngvar the Dismal (badge 5/93 East) -- (Fieldless) An
eagle
stooping wings elevated and addorsed argent. (for Hus Færhaga)
There is a CD for field vs. fieldless, and one for the orientation of
the bird.
probably clear of: Vladimir Neupokoev (9/97 Artemisia) -- Per bend
sinister sable and azure, a hawk stooping to sinister argent.
There is a CD for changing at least half the field, and probably one
for
changing the posture/wing position of the bird.
possibly clear of: Christall Gordon (3/99 Caid) -- Azure, a dove
volant
wings elevated and addorsed argent sustaining in its beak a ladle
palewise Or.
There is a CD for changing the orientation of the bird, and possibly
one for
changing from a dove to a hawk.
probably clear of: Isabella Benalcázar (12/93 Atlantia) --
Azure, a
heron volant contourny, wings addorsed, between three harps argent.
There is a CD for adding the secondaries, and probably one for changing
the
type of bird.
possibly clear of: Myra Naedlsang (9/88 Calontir) -- Per bend
sinister
purpure and vert, a skylark volant to sinister argent, holding in its
beak a
nettle branch Or.
Petr Aleksivich of Novgorod (6/75 ??) Per pale sable and gules, a tern
volant to sinister proper.
Taira den Fharraigi Thiar (2/83 Middle) -- Per fess indented azure and
Or, in chief a swallow volant to sinister argent.
In each case, there is a CD for changing the field, and possibly one
for
changing the type of bird.
I presume that these are what gophers look like (?). Are they Old or New World critters?
The bottom one could be a bit larger to fill the space a bit better.
Name docs are as given [URL: http://www.sca.org/heraldry/laurel/names/arabic-naming2.htm].
clear of conflict (note that the last time a gopher was registered as a charge was 1988)
This is not particularly good style.
clear of conflict
Name docs are as cited.
Name docs for "Wilhelm" are as given [URL: http://www.s-gabriel.org/names/talan/bahlow/bahlowMasc.html].
clear of: Eithne ni Chailein (5/96 Trimaris) -- Or, a griffin gules maintaining a sword sable between three wolf's heads erased gules all within a bordure sable.
