Greetings!
Here is some quick commentary on AE 78. As an initial note, can I ask that both the email address for this list and the due date of commentary be listed in the intro of each LoI? It's easier than guessing for the due date and having to look in old LoIs to get the list. Thanks!
In general, I have comment on names only.
1. Amaryllis Coleman - I worry about the flower's being drawn in trian aspect as it is here; perspective is not registerable unless the charges were drawn in perspective in period (like dice).
2. Br{o,}ndólfr Asgeirsson - The patronymic is actually found in Geirr Bassi as <sgeirr>. Norse names are registerable when the accents are used uniformly or dropped uniformly, so I recommend adding the accent back to the byname. No conflict found.
3. Catarina di Galaxio - Lovely name. No conflict found.
4. Catherine Sheffield - Nice name. No conflict found.
5. Creature Twyne Dragon - It's amazing how you can take perfectly well-documented elements and come up with something that seems so implausible. But I have no doubt that this is registerable.
6. Duncan Blackwater - No conflicts found.
9. Giovanna di Morosini - As either <Giovanna di Morosino> or <Giovanna Morosini>, this is fine. No conflicts found.
10. Helene al-Zarqa' - It is _much_ more likely that a Greek woman recorded in an Arabic document would have had her name Arabicized, or an Arabic name substituted for her Greek one, than that she would have a combined Greek/Arabic language name. Something such as <Halima>, found in "PERIOD ARABIC NAMES AND NAMING PRACTICES" (http://www.sca.org/heraldry/laurel/names/arabic-naming2.htm) seems a reasonable substitution for <Helene> based on sound. The name is _probably_ be registerable as is, but the client should be informed of its unlikeliness.
11. Henri d'Artois - It would be better to use one of the documented forms of the place name, unless there is reason to believe the it was also known as <Eu> in period; (right now, there is no such evidence on the LoI).
12. Maria Adriane - Looks good. I found no conflict.
13. Maximilian Von Petsch - <von> should be not capitalized. Furthermore, it shouldn't be used at all; <Petsch> is a diminutive of <Peter>, not a place name, so <von> is wholly inappropriate in this name.
14. Nichola of Castile - This is registerable, but barring evidence for the given name in Spain, it's not particularly authentic.
That's all I have for this month.
