Many thanks to September's commenters: Aryanhwy, Ermina, and Myfanwy. You three came through for us in a pinch!
The items accepted in this letter have been forwarded to Laurel on XLoI Æ81 (October 23); they will be decided on in February 2005.
Per saltire sable and Or, four crosses crosslet counterchanged Or and vert.
Originally submitted as Aiden MacLachlan, no evidence was provided by the submitter, and none was found, to support this spelling of the given name. We have changed it to Aidan to match the available documentation.
Quarterly sable and ermine, a tyger rampant contourny azure.
Per pale Or and sable, three mullets counterchanged.
Originally submitted as Alis inghean Máelán, we have changed the spelling of the byname from the pre-12th-century Máelán to the post-12th-century Mhaoláin in an attempt to meet the submitter's request for authenticity for the 13th century.
Originally submitted as Avelina Deldolce, we have reintroduced the spacing and capitalization omitted by the Catasto's listing (DELDOLCE, which is not indicative of the actual spacing and capitalization used in Italian).
Or, a quatrefoil and a chief embattled sable.
Gules, on a fess within a bordure argent three mallets gules.
Argent, a chevron between two garbs and a cross bottony gules.
Unfortunately, this device is being returned for conflict with Basileios Philanthropenos Philomathes (Argent, a chevron between three crosses of Jerusalem gules) and with Richard of Stokesley, (Argent, a chevron and three boars passant gules) whose device is on the Midrealm ELoI of July 2004 (Richard has a letter of permission to conflict with Basileios). In each case there is only one CD for changes to the type of secondary charges.
Originally submitted as Cera inghean Cernaich, Cera and Cernach (and its genitive Cernaich) are early spellings. We have changed the patronymic marker to the early spelling ingen for temporal compatibility, and lenited Cernaich.
Gules, three eagle's jambes erased contourny Or.
Per pale vert and sable, a crux ansata within an orle Or.
Per bend sable and bendy argent and sable, a bend sinister per bend argent and bendy sable and argent.
Per pale vert and sable, a chevron raguly on the upper edge and in base three roundels two and one argent.
We are returning this name for temporal compatibility reasons. Dyfan dates from 171, and Idris from 632 (thanks Ary!); the particle ap was not in use until approximately the 12th century and changing ap to filius (which would be more appropriate for a 7th century name) is in direct opposition to the submitter's request for a 14th century name. Without a registerable SCA name we must also return the armory, although there do not appear to be any problems with it.

Her device has been redrawn; Celtic knotwork animals are not registerable by longstanding precedent, and this horse as drawn is not in any heraldic posture.
Azure, a fret couped argent, a bordure argent semy of oak leaves vert.
Per pall purpure, azure and vert, a fret couped argent.
This badge is being returned for two reasons. First, the Rules for Submission VIII.2.b.v. states "Elements evenly divided in three tinctures must have good contrast between two of their parts." Per pall of three colors (here, purpure, azure, and vert) fails to have good contrast between any two of it parts. Secondly, this badge is in conflict with Ane/{zv}ka z Ro{zv}mita/la, "(Fieldless) A fret couped argent," with only one CD for fielded vs. fieldless.
Per pale gules and vert, a cat sejant argent pellety and on a chief raguly argent a chain throughout sable.

Per pale vert and gules, a dragon's head couped Or, overall two rapiers crossed in saltire argent.
Vert, a bend sinister wavy between an oak tree eradicated and a doe couchant argent.
Originally submitted as Muireann Ni Muirchertaig, Ni has been ruled not registerable in Gaelic contexts: "The particle ní was not used in Gaelic in period. The pre-1200 form is ingen uí and the post-1200 form is inghean uí." [Ceara ingen uí Líadnáin, 10/01, A-Atlantia]. We have changed the particle to ingen uí to be temporally compatible with the early spelling of Muirchertach.
This device is being returned for conflict with Niamh inghean Bheoaodha uí Chriomhthainn (Vert, a bend sinister wavy between a mullet and a fox sejant argent) with only one CD for changing the type of secondary charges.
Per pale argent and sable, two griffins sejant respectant, forepaws raised, counterchanged.
Although the submitter supplied documentation showing that myghin was a word in Manx at least as early as 1604, she did not provide any documentation (and neither did we find any) that Myghin was used as a personal name on the Isle of Man in period.
Without a registerable SCA name, we must return this device as well, although there do not seem to be any problems with it.
