Unto the Garnet Herald, Lord Christopher Harper, greetings from the Heronter Heralds, a division of the Heraldic Flying Circus and Moving Company, South.
Herein are our comments on ILoI AE92.
1.) Clarice Roan -- (name) The documentation is not only solid, but overkill.
We suggest that Pelican really only needs the Withycombe and Reaney and Wilson citations.
(device) "Per fess azure and argent, a dove rising argent sustaining in its claws a serpent embowed counter-embowed gules."
We notice that the coloration forces the placement of the charges. We're not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. We think the birdie is more like a hawk than a dove (Why would a dove want a snake?) but we found no conflicts under hawk. We suggest reblazoning it as a hawk.
Clear of:
David of Bagulay|7309|D|
"Per fess azure and argent, in chief a dove rising and in base three lozenges, all counterchanged."
Visual similarities but, 3 CVD for difference to type, tincture and number of half the primary charges.
2.) Fredeburg von Katzenellenbogen -- (name) Documentation looks good.
(device) "Vert, two bars gemels and in chief a lion passant argent."
No conflicts found. Should it be "bars gemel_s_"? We would have thought "bars gemel" was correct.
3.) Katerin Douglas Als' Alexander -- (name)
(device) "Per chevron raguly sable and gules, a phoenix and in chief three flames Or."
No conflicts found. The line of division is rayonny not raguly, and the flames need to be more 'flamey'.
4.) Onora inghean Chonaill -- (name) The 'h' for lenition is modern notation.
5.) Sabina de Lyons -- (new household name: House Laughing Fox) We have a copy of the cited book. Photocopies are being sent to Garnet. It's a coffee-table book, not very scholarly. None of the inn signs have dates attached to them.
(Although we were amused to find that the inn-sign for "The Honest Lawyer" was a decapitated man :D) Obviously, they've never met our own Giulietta! :D
(device) "Fieldless, a fox's head erased contourney gules."
Clear of:
Katerina O'Callaghan|9203A|D|
"Or, a fox's head contourny erased within a bordure embattled gules."
2 CVD for fieldless vs. field and bordure vs. no bordure.
6.) Temair Ruadh -- (name) Ruadh is masculine. Might we suggest "Ruadnat"?
(With an accent over the 'u').
Ru'adnat -- O'C&M, pg,158 (sn: Ru'adnat) "f, female form of R'uada'n (which see). In the legends of the saints St. Ru'adnat is sister of St. Ru'ada'n of Lorrha"
(device) "Per pale vert and azure, a domestic cat sejant Or."
Where's his face?
Clear of:
Ariel of Glastonbury Tor|9206K|D|
"Azure, a cat sejant within a orle Or."
2 CVD for change to half the field, and removal of orle.
