Commenting Group
Unto Garnet Herald, Cornelian Herald, and the Aethelmearc College of Arms;
Greetings from the Heronter Heralds, a division of the Heraldic Flying
Circus and Moving Company, Southwest.
Herewith, our commentary on the first half of AE98, dated 1 September, 2006.
1. Adeliz Argenti New Badge
"Per saltire azure and Or, a bordure gules."
X.4.ii. Field-Primary Armory - If neither of two pieces of armory being
compared has charges, or if each has the same uncharged peripheral ordinary,
they may derive greater difference from changes to the field. Such armory
will be called field-primary armory.

"...in response to a request for information by Master Edmund Tregelles..."
*Ahem!* Edmund Tregelles is David Saia, David Salley is Lord Dagonell.
'The words "Cori Ghora" (pronounced "ChoRee GhoRda) translate to "Stolen
Horse".' It is not Mongolian, it is Indian. It would not be used as a name.
"Per pale sable and argent, three fleur-de-lys, counterchanged."

Kingdom: Atenveldt

Note to Myfanwy: This is the scadian known as "Badger". The resemblance to
a badger face is intentional. I asked him why he didn't simply use a badger
head and he said he's going to use it as a maker's mark and a complete face is
much harder to tool.
11. Dafydd MacNab New Badge
"Vert, a wall argent issuant from base masoned sable with a door proper and
on a chief argent three cups azure."
First, "issuant from base" does not go between a tincture and its field
treatment. Second, a tertiary is indicated by "charged with", not simply
"with". I found 16 walls and 7 doors in the Armorial, and there is NO
armory with both a wall and a door.
Reblazon: "Per fess embattled vert and argent masoned sable, issuant
from base, a door proper on a chief argent three cups azure."
And the fact that two people came up with such completely different blazons
for the same badge should tell you how in-authentic this badge is.
12. Dagr Snaebjorn Bjarnarson New Name and Device
Name -- A middle name in quotes is how MODERN Americans write a nickname.
Generally, in the society, a nickname is registered as "<first> <last> called
the <nickname>" The documentation is correct, however Snaebjorn isn't listed
as a nickname, but as a first name for a Viking male. Without the quotes,
it would make an acceptable name. However, with the quotes and the submitter
not accepting changes, it must be returned.
"Azure, on a cross throughout argent between four demi-bears rampant argent,
armed and langued gules, eight gouttes gules."

13. Edward of Freehold New Name and Device
Liana argues that the arrow is not reversed. It is our understanding
that a shield is worn on the left arm with dexter edge toward the enemy,
therefore anything facing 'to sinister' is 'reversed'. Yes?
"Vert, a double-bitted axe and on a chief embattled Or an arrow reversed
fesswise sable."

14. Elyenora Houll New Name and Device
Documentation is as cited.
"Argent, on a bend sinister argent fimbriated sable between six dragonflies
purpure three leaves vert."
No conflicts found.
15. Erik von Wildflecken New Name and Device
"Gyronny of eight sable and Or, in chief two keys, wards to base and facing,
in chevron inverted and in base a cross formy counterchanged."
Blazon-fu: "Gyronny sable and Or, in chief two keys, wards to base,
and to center, chevronwise inverted, and in base a cross formy
counterchanged."
16. Finn Folhare New Badge
"(Fieldless) A hare rampant argent within and conjoined to a joscelyn
wreathed gules and ermine belled Or."
No conflicts found.
17. Gwynnedd or Dyffryn New Device
"Gules, a coney rampant contourney argent and in chief three tau crosses Or."
No conflicts found.
18. Gunther von dem Isemann New Name
19. Jane Atwell Device Resubmission
"Sable, three candles in candlesticks argent within a bordure embattled Or."
The phrasing in the Armorial seems to indicate "candles and candlesticks"
rather than "candles in candlesticks".
